Nothing more than NDP bureaucratic way of doing business. (overly concerned with procedure at the expense of efficiency or common sense). Don't waste your money on permits with this business. They do not bother showing up to inspect the job site and simply PASS the installation regardless. Hire a licensed electrician and simply put the permit costs in your pocket instead of the bureaucrat's piggy bank..

They told me I would get my permit in 24 hours. I did exactly what I was supposed to do. 7 weeks later, after 5 fruitless contact attempts and several broken promises, I got it. But now my electrician friend has moved away, which will cost me hundreds if not thousands. I asked to talk to a manager a week ago and still nothing. 6 strikes. Nobody came to check the work or advise. I got less than zero value for my money.

As a retired multi-trades ticket holder I am struggling to pay the renewal fees on a fixed retirement income. Before my retirement I could claim employment expenses to these fees and the exam fees to renew my licenses. Now I cannot! Because of my retirement after decades in the trade industries I have to give up my licenses as I cannot afford the fees? Through the years since its establishment, Technical Safety BC has steadily transformed from a "SAFETY FIRST Authority" for the sake of ensuring trade safety codes, procedures and licensing are followed, to sadly a "MOMEY FIRST, SAFETY SECOND" organization. It has grown into a TOP HEAVY, ever expanding, overly paid executives bureaucratic money grabbing machine. In the name of SAFETY, with the blessing with the BC government, this institution operates like a BUSINESS as demonstrated by the forever expansion of various fees, license fees and examination fees. Technical Safety BC is fast becoming another ICBC!

Probably the worst entity to deal with. Not for enforcement of standards of practises but if you want to register. Be prepared to be ghosted, receive zero to no response from the entity. It is a level of bureaucracy that simply isn't required and basically keeps regular people from achieving prosperity. You want to start a company and follow the rules. This entity is going to stall you to the point in which it isn't even possible. It is so bad that it is almost worth writing your MLA to discuss this crown corps dismal performance.

They are nothing more than a money hungry government like mob.. They want money without providing you anything of value. They are now trying to claim that FSR certificates expire and want MONEY to renew it, $100 + for 3 years or you DON"T QUA:IFY... There is NO EXPIRING date on my FSR certificate. Don't bother getting electrical permits with this MOB they don't show up and give you a PASS regardless. They are also not liable should they show up, pass the electrical inspection but something fails at a later time.. Truly a Garbage NDP ran business... Avoid Technical safety like Covid-19..

Haven't taken out an electrical permit in years as technical safety never show up for inspections and simply pass the work. They always seem to be on vacation.. Electrical permits are no longer required as they PASS the work regardless if they do show up or not. Or if a permit is taken out or not, its the same thing.. Hire a qualified electrician with liability insurance and run to your bank with the permit fees..

Lack of accountability and a money grab. Also, employees and "leaders" put in 5-star reviews to falsely increase their image. Very poorly run.
