What does CPR do?

In short CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) provides mechanical assistance to a heart that has stopped beating effectively ( more on that later). When chest compression's are provided, this helps circulate the remaining oxygen rich blood to the brain in order to preserve brain function during a resuscitation attempt before other advanced care and an AED can be used.

The quicker you provide CPR, when you recognize someone's heart has stopped, will increase the chances of survival before help arrives (advanced care)

As a paramedic, Justin has real life expertise backing up his first aid knowledge, and was personable and helpful. He was excellent at setting up /observing safe COVID protocols. I really appreciated his efforts to be inclusive (e.g. The textbook only lists heart attack symptoms for men, and he went out of his way to show us a video on symptoms for women as well)

A friend suggested Team Lead, and I am very glad she did - this was honestly the best renewal experience I have had. Justin was fantastic to work with, extremely professional and personable. As well, I was very pleased with the measures taken to protect all participants - all materials and models were sanitized in front of you, and physical distancing and safety protocols were followed at all times. Justin has many years experience as a paramedic and I feel that bringing that real life experience to his classroom is an asset to his teaching style. He was excellent at accommodating his audience, putting things into perspective by using scenarios that we could see in our workplace.
