I suffered from a chronic back pain that kept me up throughout the night. I was only in my 20's. Then I started practicing Taichi with Master Liu. After about 3 months of practicing, I could readily feel energy (Chi) flowing throughout my body. The back pain had subsided. Not only that, I started to feel healthier than before, both mentally and physically. Because I owe this to consistently practicing with Master Liu, I am filled with gratitude and a eagerness to share my learning experience with new students. Don't get me wrong, this is no walk in the park. If you are looking for fast and immediate improvements, this is not for you. Even tho it is likely to feel more relaxed, centered, and balanced after only one class, persistent practice is required to build better health long term. It took me at least 3 to 6 months to begin feeling a radical improvement in my body. If you are looking for a gentle way to improve your health, or is curious or fascinated with martial arts or Taichi, this is the place to start looking.

I've been with Master Liu learning this unique ancient style of Taichi for many years. It has improved vastly my overall health and energy level. My sense of alertness of surrounding has also been greatly improved. If you're looking for an original ancient style of Taichi forms that have not been simplified, this is the place!

It was the combination of fate and luck that through searching the Internet that I have found and met master Liu about ten years ago. At first I learned Xin Gong from Master Liu to cure many of my health problems, such as poor digestion and back pains. And then at later years I started to practice this unique style of TaiJi. Honestly to say if I have not practiced these two arts over the last ten years, I may have been wheel chair bounded by now because the severity of my back pain. Even through I have to spend more then fifteen hours each time to travel from Victoria to Vancouver for my tai chi practice, but it was well worth it.

I have practiced martial arts for over 20 years and I understand what it means to be martial. My original thoughts on Tai Chi were based solely on watching people doing forms in the park. I thought that it was too soft and couldn’t possibly be an effective system of self-defence. When I turned 60 years old, I physically couldn’t take the rigors of a hard style martial art but I did want to continue learning and practicing the martial way. My wife encouraged me to try Tai Chi. I started to look at the different styles of Tai Chi and just happened upon Yuan Shi Tai Ji Quan Dao (“YSTJQD”). I know that a martial art school is only as good as the head instructor and after reading Master Liu’s bio I instantly knew that this was a school worth considering. If you are worried that this style is not martial, don’t be, it is martial in all respects. The first time Master Liu shows you a practical application and throws you, you will be convinced. But beyond the physical aspects of YSTJQD, the health benefits are hard to deny. Years of taking hard ukeme resulted in a bad back with a herniated disk between L5 & L6. This has plagued me since 2010. After 6 months of instruction from Master Liu and consistent home practice my back problem started to go away and after 12 months I no longer wake up in the middle of the night because of back pain or get up in the morning with a stiff back. Master Liu is an extremely patient and talented instructor. YSTJQD is an effective martial art and the health benefits are outstanding. In such a short period, Taiji has made a huge impact on my life both physically and mentally. I am back actively playing sports again and I feel much more focused and balanced. Finally, I would like to thank Master Liu for taking me on as a student and for his generosity.

I have learned (Yuan Shi style) Tai Chi with Master Liu for many years. It is a very good exercise for both my physical and mental health. I always practise Tai Chi meditation (as well as Xin Gong) to reduce my stress. Master Liu is an experienced gentle teacher and his teaching assistants are very friendly and helpful. It is a good opportunity to learn Tai Chi (Yuan Shi Style) in Vancouver.

I feel very lucky to have found such a great Tai Chi master in Vancouver. I have learned Tai Chi from Master Liu for at least six years, during each class the master and the class assistants are all very patient and helpful. They help correct my body postures and improve my health greatly. And it is amazing to see it in person that Tai Chi Quan can really be applied as self defense, a true martial art. Thank you =)

I have been studying Tai Chi here for almost 3 years. It is the real Tai Chi I was always looking for. The postures are not just postures, they develop the interior Qi (energy) when practising. Master Liu is a very good Tai Chi teacher. And I already began to study pushing hands recently!

I am completely new to Tai Chi and the last 3 months has been a wonderful journey into hopefully, a life long practice. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I have tried many things to improve my health. Nothing compares to Tai Chi, it has been an incredible tool for me to manage my stress, fatigue, balance problems and mental focus. Tai Chi has given me the ability to calm down my nervous system within a few minutes. I am blessed to have met all the wonderful people at Tai Chi Vancouver. Master Liu is an honorable and caring mentor. Each week he makes an adjustment and I can feel the difference in my system immediately. Master Liu’s assistants have been extremely attentive, kind, informative and patient. Their knowledge and passion for this discipline is inspiring.
