Fresh, great omakase. Simple nigiri with great pieces of fish. Drinks are very reasonably priced 3-6$ non alcoholic, $6-$15 for alcohol. I bought extra pieces after my omakase was over: the hand roll and soy marinated salmon are excellent.

The meal was fantastic but had to take off a star for initial service once we arrived to Tachi. OpenTable takes your credit for reservation. Their policy states that no-show, cancellation or late 5 minutes would result in a $30 charge per head and our spots would be given away. Thinking that they are strict with the 30 minute meal time, we arrived 30 minutes early for our 8:15pm seating and ordered drinks. The server took our drink order and we saw two groups that were waiting as well. By 8:06pm, the other two groups got seated for their service but the server didn’t say anything to us. We called him over to ask and was told that they were running behind. We arrived at 7:45pm and was never told they were running behind until we asked so the communication aspect wasn’t there. The groups before us ended up leaving around 8:34pm and I believe we got seated around 8:40pm…so that ended up being 25 minutes behind schedule and waiting an additional 55 minutes in total. One couple arrived after the 8:06pm groups and they were seated first before our group. Not a great first impression. Thankfully the sushi made up for it. Bonito was my favourite piece, then the temaki.

What an amazing experience at Tachi. One of a kind stand in omakase. Felt like I was transported back to Japan standing at a bar eating noodles. Watch the orchestra of the sushi chefs and indulge on every piece. Worth every penny.

Definitely one of the best omakase sushi restaurant outside of Japan. The best overall in term of value to price (I have been to more than 500 sushi restaurants) For this kind of quality, I have often paid $160+ in US and 12000 yen plus in Japan. It is so good and served so quickly. For the first time, I didn’t bother taking pictures for every nigiri they have served. Total pieces are 11 nigiri + 1 hand roll, about $65 a person include tax and tips. I don’t feel stuffed at all. I can definitely have at least six more pieces. Every piece of nigiri is well formed. The su-meshi (sushi rice base) is mixed with Japanese brown sushi vinaigrette to bring up a slightly sweeter taste. Every piece of fish is very fresh as expected. This kind of quality I have only seen in sushi restaurants at 3 times + in price. They are all good, especially 2 pieces which is sea beam and karma toro (the fatty part on a blue fin tuna’s neck). It is a incredible taste experience. Conclusion: food 5++, service 4.5, ambiance 4. I have eaten a few standup sushi places in Tokyo, but never in this omakase style. This kind of price for this quality of sushi is unseen other.

This Omakase resto is located deeply in the chef's hall. A wonderful experience, which comprises a 45 minute tasting sensation with fine Japanese masters at their crafts. At $60 per person, well worth the price and experience. A little rushed, but interesting none the less. I recommend visiting this tiny establishment.

Best omakase in Toronto, great value for the price. Loved the fish quality. Unique standing experience felt intimate with only one other couple eating beside us. Had a nice chat with the chef who is from Japan. Quick 30 minute dinner, but didn't feel rushed at all.

A fantastic Omakase experience! Our chef was very open to talk to and made a great presentation with each new sushi piece. $60 a person which is quite fair in my opinion for this quality of food, beyond delicious. Highly recommend!
