Very knowledgeable, friendly and caring family doctor. Spends time explaining all the issues and treatment options. Attentive and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Extremely rude receptionist. Witnessed multiples instances where they refuse to see patients, and instead will diagnose and prescribe meds over the phone. Horrible horrible!

Horrible service - the receptionist is rude, unhelpful and extremely displeasing. They also question the reason you're asking for an appointment and regularly advise you over the phone that you don't need to come in because the doctor is too busy

Dr. Szarka is a kind doctor, and maintains a good knowledge of his patients, even if they've gone years without a visit. If this rating was for doctors, it would be higher. However, a doctor's office is a combination of the licenced medical professionals, and the administrative staff, and that is where the client experience suffers. Practice managers and administrative staff have a responsibility to ask you what is wrong, and are bound by confidentiality. It is expected that they ask you the reason for your appointment so that you can budget the doctors' time accordingly. Dr. Szarka's staff are generally experienced and knowledgeable, but tend to function more like gatekeepers than organizers. This can be important during flu season/outbreaks of illness, because some folks need care more urgently than others. However, even a returning decades-long client will be grilled via phone, "diagnosed" by the office staff, or simply pooh-poohed away, rather than steps being taken to accommodate a meeting time for them. Often it feels like you are inconveniencing the folks on the other end of the line... and it has been like that for years. Whether this is due to personnel problems, or simply this practice being constantly pushed to its capacity, my suggestions are the same: Overall, if you need a couple yearly check-ups which you are diligent about booking long in advance: Dr. Szarka is a good choice. But if you are susceptible to seasonal illness or looking for a doctor who is available for follow-ups and last-minute consultations, you may want to shop around.

Went from a cluster headache every 2 weeks to a grand mal seizure every 2 weeks thanks to him not thinking i was having cluster headaches even with my telling him about the pulsating pressure behind my left eye and making the eye water and throwing up sometimes relieving it and on and on..... If he looked up cluster headaches for 2 minutes he would've agreed with me but now i have epilepsy and no headaches thanks to him. Also i just had to add like most other reviews say the receptionist is very rude and always seems like she's in a bad mood

The worst doctor on the planet,,in 10 years I have been in his office he has never seen his patients....sends others in...he is just a scan your health card guy..doesn't do anything for his patients scan scan ? right sarka

i clicked one star only because i had to. if i had my way it would be -25 star. This Doctor is a joke. if you've had surgury. they basically dont believe you. if your awaiting a second surgury they dont believe you. took me off my pain meds cold turkey. they dont listen to the patient or what they are going through, or what type of pain they are dealing with there everyday of trying to work and support your family. they dont care at all. the doctor is always away out of office or on vacation the receptionist is jus as bad with attitude with grilling you. has even stepped in to try and be the doctor them self. i am reporting this doctor to the college of physicians. they dont have there stuff in order so in the long run the patient suffers. i hope he loses his license.
