★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was understandably apprehensive when I stumbled upon the last review from "BirdsPaint" (through Google Maps when I drilled down to get directions - rather than the official Airbnb site). It was so contrary to the 90-some very positive reviews I had seen on Airbnb. I was about to travel to Swan Cove Cottage with my very frail 95 year-old mother when I saw the dire warning posted 2 months ago. I am sorry to read that "BirdsPaint" had such a bad experience; and that they lost a family pet shorty there-after; that's very unfortunate.
That said I have to comment that our experience was fortunately very different. My Mum and I had a lovely time last weekend and we will go back. I had no concerns about cleanliness. We saw no vermin other than a very pesky fly.....

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ **Do not bring your pets or young children to this location** The place is crawling with earwigs and cockroaches. We had to leave in the middle of the night as we had earwigs in our beds, on ourselves, etc. My pet died of possible poisoning and I highly suspect it was because the host put bug and vermin poison in the location before our arrival, she had left all of the windows and doors open to air out the location. The host is refusing to refund the stay in full, although we spent a total of 1-2 hours in the place and pictures of the various bugs, including a giant cockroach on the couch, have been sent to her. This location is insalubrious and potentially dangerous for your pet and young children (who have a tendency to put their hands, etc. in their mouth and could be intoxicated).
You'll notice on Airbnb that almost all of the praises and comments on the location are from people living close to the location or in Toronto. Perhaps the host had friends write good reviews?
Avoid this location at all cost. I do not wish for anyone to experience what I experienced.
