About Superior North Emergency Medical Service
Superior North Emergency Medical Service is operated by the City of Thunder Bay, with oversight from Thunder Bay City Council and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Although the Headquarters is located in the City of Thunder Bay, there are 19 EMS Stations throughout the District of Thunder Bay from emergency medical services is provided. Every community and unorganized area in the District of Thunder Bay is serviced by Superior North EMS paramedics.
Superior North EMS employs approximately 230 people, (210~ full and part time paramedics, and 20 leadership and administrative personnel) who deliver provincially mandated emergency medical services to approximately 169,000 people and keep things running smoothly 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Superior North EMS provides emergency medical response to 911 calls, where paramedics assess, treat, and transport patients to hospitals for further medical care. Superior North EMS also provides emergent medical transportation services, usually between medical facilities and airports. Some non-emergent patient transportation services are provided.
The Superior North Emergency Medical Service currently has a fleet of 47 vehicles, which includes ambulance, emergency response vehicles and administrative vehicles. The service is spread across 19 stations in the District of Thunder Bay.
There are also 12 First Response Teams in our coverage area, with a population of 157,000 people, and approximately 25,000 patient calls over the year.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We've had a great experience and one very poor experience. The great experience included kind professionals that did a great job. The very poor experience included unkind and uncaring personnel who wouldn't even give a Kleenex to my elderly mum to blow her nose. They were either very tired or they just didn't like their jobs.
AMENDED..... On September 22nd, 2019 a female paramedic saved my mums life. My mums heart failed and the paramedic acted quickly by giving her lifestaving CPR. I gave her a hug but how do you repay such a gift? Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mum is alive and well.
