Sunshine Food Store - Edmonton

First of all the small guy behind the counter needs to put a smile on his face and be a little more friendlier. The guy needs to work on his customer service skills, terrible. Only reason I went there was because I saw on CTV news best chicken in town. Second of all he had no spuds. Kind of disappointed at 5pm you have run out. Third, the chicken was pretty good. Moist and crispy. Was it the best ???.. Mary Browns is pretty good too. I drove 20min out of my way to grab it. Would I do it again. Maybe if buddy behind the counter didn’t look like I was bothering him.

Been going to sunshine since I was 8 the owners are so friendly and will always take care of you. Honestly the best fried chicken I've ever had. I don't live in the area anymore but I still love coming here no matter how far I live from sunshine

The chicken was actually dang pretty good. The chicken itself was fresh tasting and juicy. The skin was good too (could use a little more spices) but had a good crunch...overall, really good. Portions are large and the price was decent. Better then any fast food joint that's for sure....the guy at the counter could be a little friendlier, but hey. I will be back.

chicken was so good and not greasy. also a place south side can't remember name serves same chicken...yumm

My brother got this for us. First thought as soon as we opened it. It smells BURNED. Chicken was extremely dry. Fries are good though

Was fantastic 11-13 years ago when I was in Londonderry and is still as good now. The prices haven't changed much which is pretty crazy considering how the times have forced most other restaurants to price up their menus. Love the owners and staff as well, they're super nice and friendly. I come back here for the chicken, spuds, and nostalgia.

I really wish I could give this chicken a better review, I was so looking forward to it, but unfortunately my first experience was a very disappointing one and a total let down. I picked up the 15 pieces & wedges for my son's birthday today and I didn't get all the various pieces I was told I would get when I placed my order with Abdul on April 30. I was informed I would receive one whole chicken plus the additional six pieces would be a variety. I ended up with six wings and only one leg, two ribs vs the guaranteed three, two keel vs. one, and although the keel is the most expensive part of the chicken, I don't care for it. Every piece of chicken we tried was over cooked and dry, it almost appeared the chicken was refried after it had sat for awhile. The potato wedges were chewy; both chicken and wedges were not very hot or fresh. The wedges were plentiful considering I was supposed to get 24 pcs with my order; I had well over 60 pcs which leads me to believe I was given leftovers from earlier in the day before the dinner rush since I picked up my order at 5:15 pm. Considering I pre-ordered two days in advance, I expected them to cook up my order just before I picked it up. I provided this feedback through messenger to Sunshine Food Store as well and someone got back to me on May 6 offering me a complimentary meal, however; when I contacted the owner on May 22 regarding the complimentary meal, he retracted the offer because I had published this review and accused me of possibly letting the chicken sit for 3 or more hours before consuming it. When he finally calmed down, he told me I could still go in to pick-up a couple of meals, but no thanks, who knows what he might put in my meal. This owner cannot take constructive criticism.

Omg, best fried chicken in edmonton. We actually have a friend who comes to this little gem all the way from Riverbend. This is your local mom and pop shop. Offering slurping, candy, chocolate, toys, lotto tickets and other things. If you like to support local, support these guys. The owners are friendly, funny and after a couple of visits you will be on first name basis. Let's talk fried chicken and taters. The biggest and best fried chicken in edmonton m sooo yummy. And always fresh. And the taters. Omg they are so good. And the prices. Not sure how they make money. You can feed a whole family on a small budget. I can't say enough good things about this place.
