This comment is reference to one written early on, Sunshine Coast health centre showed me away to a more happier and healthier way of life.I attended the centre for Trauma and Addiction, the centre showed me the way to help me in both areas, my addiction started once I left the infantry a profession I dearly loved since it was my family my trauma from my childhood, the PTSD from the military, it is a lot of hard work but you have to do the work which is easier said than done. The councillors are there to help you my being your partner and helping along the way but you must do all the work. This facility is amazing. All of the staff are very helpful and professional. The treatment team know what they are doing. Food is amazing and the place is very clean. On and offsite activities are fun and engaging. I highly recommend coming here.

SCHC is a relaxed, welcoming place. In the company of thirty or so guys in a similar situation you’re encouraged to focus on you: your issues, your trauma – whatever hole in your life you’re trying to fill with a substance. Staff are remarkably accepting and non-judgmental. No one is there to make you feel guilty – after all, you’ve probably done enough of that yourself. Instead the question they ask most often is “what do you get from using?” The SCHC philosophy is that people use substances because there is something missing – you’re not sure why you’re here or if there’s a point to living, you’re not living in a way that’s consistent with your values, etc. They work with you to identify what’s missing for YOU, what YOUR purpose is, what’s meaningful to YOU. House rules at SCHC are as light as possible. Obviously alcohol and other drugs aren’t allowed. And your physical access to the outside world is limited, at first to escorted outings (which are available most every day). But you’re free to bring and use your electronics – you can text your kids, Facetime with loved ones, answer work emails – as much or as little as you want. Even if you participate in all the available programs and activities there is enough downtime to reflect and recover. And you’re free to participate in as much or as little as you find works for you. Personally I found trying everything at least once was helpful – you never know what’s going to trigger an “aha” moment. My stay at SCHC was incredibly helpful. I was able to let go of the guilt and remorse that was holding me down. I can imagine a future, now, that’s worth living for.

My life was in chaos when I arrived at Sunshine Health Coast Center. I had been in active addiction for 20 plus years. I was addicted to multiple heavy substances and had given up on life. I am now nearly nine months clean but more importantly my quality of life and overall happiness have improved. It is always up to the individual to make a choice to stop substance use, however I don’t think I could have done it without the help of SCHC. I was shown that if one is willing to strengthen their life at the biological, psychological, social and spiritual level it is possible to return to one’s true self…free of substance abuse and addiction. The staff are compassionate people who genuinely care about the individual and their unique circumstances. The counsellors at SCHC truly understand addiction and how to rise above it, but more importantly, the program at SCHC reminds you that life is worth living. I was taught that when one can find a meaningful and purposeful way to live, the addiction loses its power. I think of SCHC and the people there as a second home and family. I learned I have self worth and that life is worth living without substance use. I can’t express my love and gratitude enough to the people at SCHC. I am truly lucky that I attended the program when I did, as I’m not sure I would still be alive. I’m now working towards counselling other people living with substance abuse and mental illness. I would recommend SCHC to anyone who is struggling with addiction. I honestly believe that SCHC is a special place and the program there is a step above, in it’s understanding of people and addiction. If you are serious about changing your life and freeing yourself of addiction, SCHC really is the best option and in my opinion the only option in terms of rehabilitation centers. The reason I say that is because this is truly a unique and special place where sacred and amazing work is done. I think its important to note the incredible strength of the alumni program at SCHC. This is a place that people want to remember. Men who attend this center return to visit and use SCHC as continuous support, and as I said, I will always think of the men I went through the program with and the staff at SCHC as family-- a tremendous source of love.

The Sunshine Coast Health Centre is an amazing facility with a wonderful staff. The centre's approach to addiction, and mental health in general, is refreshing and creates a space to explore the root problems of your issues. The facility is well equipped with a gym, indoor pool, and many other activities and outings that allow you to form long lasting friendships. The time I spent at the centre changed my life for the better in every aspect imaginable, I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a lifestyle change.

Hi, first let me start by saying that the Sunshine Coast Health Centre literally saved my life. The facility is top notch and is in one of the most beautiful scenic places on the Sunshine Coast. The staff, everyone from the doctors, nurses, right down to the kitchen staff, are all amazing people who really do care about you and all that come here. This is a more scientific approach to recovery - as opposed to the traditional AA model that just isn’t for everyone. If you know someone struggling with addiction, PTSD, or mental health problems than I can’t say enough about this place. Peace too all.

My time at SCHC was extremely valuable for me. Everyone from the counsellors to the kitchen/cleaning staff go well out their way to make sure that everything is as it needs to be. I found a kind of personal peace while staying in this beautiful treatment centre and I wouldn’t hesitate going right back if I were ever to lose my way again. You’ll feel right at home I can promise you that. Highly recommend.

I never was able to see myself being comfortable enough to attend a recovery center. I thought of it as being weak, or having a problem. Although from the moment I first contacted them I felt that this was a place that I could feel comfortable being in. The staff from Oriana in accounting to the nurses I met walking through the front doors at intake were amazingly non judgmental, kind and accepting no matter who you are. The cleaning, kitchen and maintenance staff were so kind, open and understanding. No matter the issue they are there to help and provide exceptional service. And then the amazing team of doctors, therapists, councilors and people in client services are unreal in there commitment to every ones recovery. Attending Sunshine Coast Health Center was the best choice I have made in my road to recovery. My band of brothers I met at the center are an extension of my family. Long live the Brotherhood.
