Too many inedible pieces in their chicken. Feel like I'm doing surgery while I try and eat it. Rice was good but I had to watch out for bones and things while I was eating it.

Truly a wonderful place. I'm grateful every single day that my mother is at Sunrise Mississauga, especially now. Very caring staff, efficient and extremely knowledgeable administrators and happy residents. We were lucky to find this gem.

This place will provide good care for your parents. However they suffer from the same problems as all senior living facilities, staffing. Quality of care is more dependent on which staff is on for any given day than it should be. The premium you pay would lead you to believe their staff to client ratio and standards will provide a better than average experience. Most days quality of care is as expected to better than expected. However on days when they are short staffed or junior staff and in, the quality of care suffers. It's for this reason that I believe Sunrise is average and not worth the premium you'll pay.

What an absolutely atrocious facility. My grandmother has lived here for just under a year, at the direction of a case worker from the CCAC. Since day one, we have been lead astray and my poor grandmother has suffered. She has had 14 UNEXPLAINED injuries at the hands of the staff. Each email notification from the staff has indicated an "unknown" cause. Once, ok sure. Twice maybe. But FOURTEEN? That's abuse. Obviously the staff do not know how to properly transfer the patients and are clearly too rough with them. My grandmother's skin is like tissue paper and needs to be handled with care. It's not difficult to be gentler and provide a smoother lift or transition. Often times when we have visited unexpectedly, she has been found in dirty clothes and appears unkempt. There have been ZERO reports from the actual physician about her condition and until recently, the on-site physician wasn't aware of her end of life wishes. How is that possible that the doctor can not take time to acquaint him/herself with the patient and their family? Unacceptable! Based on one single blood pressure reading, her medications have changed and she has been fed more pills that are not necessary. During the initial stage of the pandemic, we were not allowed to visit. Our hands were tied and we had no choice but to trust the staff and the facility. During that time, her "care" givers put all of her outstanding mail into a drawer and did not notify us of her bills. She had an outstanding Rogers cable bill that went into collection and her cable was cut off! The poor woman who had no outside stimulation now could not even turn to the tv for entertainment! We had to spend 6 hours on the phone sorting out her cable issues and ensuring no one's credit was ruined by their careless mistake. A simple email or phone call notifying us of her mail would not have been too much to ask. After about 11 months, my father, her POA, finally had a phone discussion with the doctor at this facility and they both decided she should be put on palliative care. THEIR doctor made this decision. A couple of days later, the director of this facility changed the diagnosis and said she did not meet the criteria. I'm not sure what credentials the director has, but she is certainly not a medical doctor! We are finally able to move my grandmother into a more appropriate facility and I arrived today to retrieve some of her belongings. No one knew what I was talking about, even though said director stated the items would be left for me at the main entrance. Once I finally got them, they were in a tangled mess (not folded) and had been put into a filthy, dirty USED garbage bag, with a hole on the side! For 11K per month, you'd think they would take some pride in their facility and their abilities to care for patients. We have been hesitant to say anything about this care for fear of the staff taking it out on my grandmother. As they have already been abusing her unprovoked, what would they do if they had a reason to hurt her?! This facility is a huge scam and the moment they found out their cash cow was no longer staying, they have stopped communicating with us, stopped providing adequate information about her condition and her belongings, and we fear the neglect will continue until she is properly moved. If you are considering this facility for yourself or a loved one, please think again. For 11K a month you should be treated like gold! They don't even provide you a bed, wheelchair, or personal hygiene supplies! And the staff have no issue abusing and neglecting the elderly. For a much cheaper price, you could find a perfectly lovely LTC facility, or hire home care workers and remain in your home. Please do not give this awful, mean, only for profit LTC facility any of your hard earned money. It's disgusting and I hope the provincial government looks a little closer at this one to make some necessary changes.

An older friend got a unit here late January 2020 just before Covid hit. She eventually made friends with staff, other clients and guest entertainment. Satisfying to see her enjoying meals and her personality coming out after living widowed for 5 years. When the first wave of Covid was raging thru care facilities, this one had one case reported to July. I think that says it all.

I just ordered a chicken roti from these guys and they sent Me the roti separate from the wrap. Why am I wrapping the food when I paid you to do it? Also there’s chicken in the bone. What kind of foolishness is this?

"Don't worry, we'll get your mother out of that chair and walking. We'll reintegrate her back into society, that's what we do." One year later, mom was still in the chair. She hadn't progressed from needing a hoya lift to get her into and out of her bed. Each trip into or out also used extra points. (Points being the key substitute word for dollars) because 2 people apparently were necessary for this chore. It sounds more civilized to say "points" instead of "you owe us x dollars." The bed was also an extra at a rental cost of $450 per month. Medication was billed weekly to enable to pharmacy to milk us for 4 dispensing fees monthly, instead of every 3 months as is normal. When mom put her fork down at lunch or dinner for a drink of juice or tea, the guy who helped clean up the mess hall cleaned up her dishes, empty or full. She thought that's all she got to eat. I guess he was somewhat reintegrated, but mom didn't know. Extra "points" were charged for the renaissance ward and renaissance care packages. That's where they somewhat carefully park the inmates as in front of a TV, either in the lounge or in their own room. We watched 2 keepers spend over 90 minutes one day curled on a couch. One sleeping and the other never took her eyes off her phone. For this you "use extra points" I understand Mike Harris is on the board of directors at Sunrise. Maybe he should spend a couple of months jammed in a wheelchair, eating frozen Sysco slop. Maybe he's agree that 11K per month should afford a real chef and possibly cable TV as well. Sunrise wasn't too worried about helping get mom out until they were told the money was getting tight. Then she got the bums rush in a matter of weeks. Mom's in a city run home now, for about $2200 per month and that $5400 bed is FREE to all residents. With regular visits come 2-3 phone calls weekly with "hi, just checking in, you mom's doing great." Medication is free and there is no extra "points" for having an official pill dispenser on staff. Sunrise is dead to us. Long live sunny days. (The one star is because google won't let us leave 0)
