Swami Sivananda’s Yoga of Synthesis integrates the four paths of Yoga for the aspirant to develop him/herself in a complete way.

Karma Yoga or selfless service: Also known as the Yoga of action, Karma Yoga is the core of the entire Sivananda Organization. Simply put it is the path of Yoga where one serves with no expectations of reward. The duties are performed with the feeling that one is serving God through humanity. Karma Yoga is meant to purify the ego.

 Bhakti Yoga or the Yoga of devotion: In Swami Sivananda’s words, Bhakti Yoga is the easiest and surest way to attain God Realization in this present age. Through prayers, chants and worship one turns his/her emotions into devotion, developing an unconditional love towards seeing God in all of creation.

 Raja Yoga deals with the control of the mind through the study and understanding of its workings. A set of practices is prescribed to discipline and control the components of the human being: body, prana (vital energy) and mind. With the tools provided by these practices, one develops will power and clarity of mind.

 Jnana Yoga or the Yoga of knowledge: This is the intellectual approach of Yoga in which through the practice of Vedanta and a deep philosophical enquiry, one investigates the nature of the Self. This path is said to be the most difficult one and the aspirant needs some previous qualifications as well as great willpower and courage to face the Truth.

I am so pleased with my experience at Sun Yoga Edmonton. The teachers are awesome and have great knowledge about traditional Yoga. I feel welcomed and supported when I am taking the classes. The classes are designed not only for you body but also for your mental and spiritual health. Thanks so much for having a space like that in Edmonton!

I have been coming here for the past month and the difference in both my mental and physical health has improved so much! Manisha has created such a safe and soothing space that every class feels like home. The variety in classes is also amazing, there is truly something for everyone! I love that each class is more than just a physical experience- you also learn the foundations of yoga in a spiritual sense. Manisha takes the time to fully explain all the benefits of each pose for the mind, body, and spirit. I’m also able to do poses I have never been able to do before thanks to Manisha’s expertise in guiding through each position. I leave each class feeling so much better than when I arrived and you can really tell that the instructors at this studio want you to continuously grow and fall more in love with yoga every day!

I would 100% recommend Sun Yoga! I am relatively new to yoga, and have really appreciated the time taken by Manisha to make sure I understand not only how to do different poses and breathwork, but WHY we are doing them. The studio is very nice and welcoming. I have really enjoyed learning different forms of yoga, such as Yoga Nidra. Thank you for a great experience!

I’ve had such an amazing experience at Sun Yoga! It is such a safe and welcoming place to be. The instructors are all so kind and they have so much knowledge to share. There are many classes to choose from and I have enjoyed each new class I have taken!

Sun Yoga is situated in a quaint, warm and welcoming studio. All three of the instructors I’ve met so far have been kind, patient and very informative to me, an absolute beginner. I’m experiencing a transition to better health. I suffer from chronic lower back pain and chronic sinus congestion, both of which are measurably improved in just 4 weeks. Also, I’m sleeping more soundly resulting in higher energy levels during the day. Nothing short of an outstanding experience for me. Highly recommend.

Sun yoga has been such an amazing experience for me I’ve learned so much about yoga all different types of mental and physical benefits all the teachers are amazing I’ve done classes with Manisha, Neeru, and Janet they have all been amazing so much knowledge about yoga and the spiritual development of it. I love that the studio has a cozy, calming feeling to it as soon as u walk in your already starting to relax! I especially love that the teachers explain all about yoga not just doing a work out class if your looking to dive into traditional, authentic yoga sun yoga is your place and Manisha is your girl!

I've been attending classes for over a month now and I can feel a huge improvement in my mental health, stress and anxiety levels. The classes offer a balance between traditional yoga and meditation. The classes typically start with meditation and then slowly move into stretching and yoga poses. I find this technique very effective and have felt the benefits of the mind connecting with the body on another level. I highly recommend this studio to anyone who wants to try yoga or anyone who already is at an intermediate/advanced yoga level.

I absolutely love Sun Yoga studio. The instructors I have been with(Manisha and Kat) are very knowledgeable and patient! So happy to have found Sun yoga, noticing a difference in my mental and physical wellbeing. Committing myself to practicing yoga on a regular basis now, I haven't been able to do that in the past, and it's because I found my place... .
