★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I must say Altern Properties to date is the worst apartment company I've ever rented with before. Extremely small, over priced, next to NEVER do snow removal.
I paid $700 from MY debit card for the damage deposit. They phoned me to sign a new my lease after my ex moved out.
I barely had anytime as I am very busy with work (sales), and my hours are 8AM - 6PM (office opens at 8 and closes at 5)...
They said in order for me to get back my $700 deposit, I must sign a new lease under my name only (note: I am the primary applicant), and after another month I could give my notice and then this way I could be refunded the $700 - carpet cleaning from my damage deposit...
They are con artistes, and thieves ... I do not recommend Altern Properties... Go to Broad Street Properties, they have much more space, they also take the time to explain your rental agreement, rent is also very affordable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Neighbors were very loud and annoying upstairs. Sounded like they were wrestling. When I gave my notice they put a notice on everyone’s door saying they were going to Turn on the air conditioning ( they put a notice on my door too) they never turned it on. Probably thought because I was moving why should I deserve air conditioning (made moving very uncomfortable and hot). After they checked my place to see if everything was clean I asked when I would be receiving my cheque in the mail for the deposit back. And the lady told me it would be sent out the Monday after I moved. I moved 8 days ago and it still hasn’t been sent out it’s now Friday. Hasn’t even been sent to head office yet. $700 is a huge amount and inconvenience to not have come in the mail when you are expecting it. They should train their staff better and explain to them to not tell people when they will be receiving their Cheques. Because now I will not be buying any food of gas for the next week until I get paid. Because I was working my budget around the fact that this money was supposed to be coming.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've lived here for 4 years already and I love living here. Rent is affordable and we are allowed pets, and have the clubhouse and pool and bbq. They do all the snow removal fast and all the landscaping. If something breaks down they are fast and quick to fix it. The places are very nice and yeah maybe it might be small but hey, it's an apartment, if you want something bigger move into a house. My maintenance guy is awesome and the staff are really good too. The cleaning staff are nice too and she always keeps up with the cleaning. I find it pretty sound proof. So hope I can live here many years too come. Also, I lived in broadstreet properties and they suck and the staff are rude. Broadstreet properties raise their rents after you live there for a year, my rent stays the same, thank gosh!! As long as my rent doesnt go up I will stay here and be a good tenant.

Overall it's overpriced and the quality of the building just terrible: no sound insulation, no ventilation and just terrible to sleep at night because you can hear everything from your neighbors through the paper walls.
I'll never rent from this place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed at Sterling for a few months and it was perfect. Maintenance was friendly, fast and efficient. Office staff were receptive, kind and reasonable. Move in and move out was flawless and easy. Moving into my suite was a dream, it was clean from top to bottom and maintenance was receptive to any changes that were needed to be done. Suite was in perfect condition.
