This is one of the best birding locations within the Algoma District. Almost 200 species of birds have been recorded here, despite it being severely under-birded. Spring migration in May and fall migration in September and October are the prime times to visit this site for birding. Since the Parks Canada gate is only open at certain times, you usually have to walk/bike in from the gate during prime birding times, but it's worth it, as there are many species to see along the way.
