This is one of Manitoba "Wonders" of the diverse landscapes. The trail was marked well and lots of places to stop and admire the scenery. The Sands are a challenge and bring extra water to drink.

Great trails. Make sure to do the devils punch bowl as well. Be prepared to go up and down lots of hills while walking in sand

Fantastic way to spend a day. Dress for the weather, plenty of fluids, food and friends. Ensure you have sufficient hiking boots or hiking sandals.

Great trail just south of Carberry. It didn't feel like we were in Manitoba with the sandy desert feel and elevations. There are portapotties throughout the trail, stairs to access view points, some steep sandy inclines, but overall not a terribly difficult hike. (you do need a park pass on your car to park)

Beautiful trail that offers various terrain and lovely views of the sand dunes and punch bowl. Bring water on a sunny day, some parts don’t have much shelter.

What a wonderful surprise to find desert dunes in the middle of Manitoba! Wonderful self guided trail, lots of climbing and walking thru deep sand. Could be a bit if a challenge if you have any issues with walking or navigating because its not too well marked. Make sure to pick up a map at the Park office because there werent any when we got to the trail. It took us (4 seniors) approx 3.5 hours in total because we also took the trail that led us to Devil's Punchbowl which is a scenic lookout over much of the area. There are washrooms at the entrance of the trails and along the trail, there are a couple of rest areas (no restrooms there). We chose a cooler September day and took a bottle of water and had no problems at all.

Spectacular hike to and through the sand dunes in the desert environment of the Spirit Sands. Be sure to bring lots of water! This hike can be done barefoot or with flip flops/sandals if you are comfortable with hot sand and occasional sharp sticks, but otherwise bring something that will resist being filled with sand and work well on softer terrain. There are water pumps that are recommended not to drink from (though I seem to recall there not being signs for that and doing so when I was younger, so it may just be a liability style warning) but they are very refreshing to dunk your head under. Watch for Garter Snakes (non-poisonous, not very sharp teeth, and during the right time of the year I believe I saw raspberry canes and a couple strawberry plants. Be sure to take the Oasis trail if you really want to experience being in the middle of sand dunes, but be warned the Oasis itself is the water table below the surface a meter - covered in a small patch of pine trees and bush - this is not a pool of water with palm trees around it.
