β β β β β We rented this hall for 2 days. One day for set up and the second for our wedding. There were many issues.
1. You can not leave alcohol on the premises overnight as someone may break in so the second day rental to load up was a waste.
2. It's filthy. The floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in over a year. If I am paying for a venue, I expect it to be clean. A mop and a bucket would apparently not be part of the rental.
3. This place is open to the public... the majority of the time. So you may rent the place and pay quite a bit of money for it, but it doesn't come with private washrooms... which states another obvious, the washrooms are also filthy. Really really filthy. I was so embarrassed for my guests to use it.
4. You can rent the place, but you HAVE TO PAY FOR PARKING. That's right! I thought this was a joke... it's not. For the lack of cleanliness and privacy, they should compensate somehow. I suggest parking passes for rentals.
Positives: The City of Barrie Employees are all wonderful and helpful. All the caterers in Barrie are also wonderful, so if you can commit to a dirty, public party, go for it. I would never suggest this place to anyone for a wedding though. I'm still mortified by the floors. Just horrible.

β β β β β Great party Venue! we rented this Hall for our engagement party and although its a little pricey considering there isnt much of a kitchen to work with, the atmosphere with a little back lighting is amazing not to mention the veiw of our beautiful bay and city lights reflecting in the water. I would definitely recommend!

β β β β β It's a historic site. The building was built in 1903-4 as the Master Mechanic and Stores Department (office and supplies) for the Grand Trunk Railway. It is the only rail equipment servicing building remaining on the waterfront. Its location is a focal point on the south shore of Kempenfelt Bay. It's called Southshore Community Centre now. It contains a information Center, public washroom and a event hall. There is a metered parking lot. It's free to local people.
