★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A few Jewish homesteaders seeking agricultural land and religious freedom settled here in 1906. With the subsequent arrival of more immigrants, Sonnenfeld Colony soon became a successful Jewish settlement with the population peaking at 227 circa 1929. The community remained viable until the early 1960's and now this well maintained cemetery is all that remains of the settlement.
