Malware & Viruses

We have tools and process that detect and protect against various types of cyber threats, including malware, botnets, spyware, phishing, and the crypto virus. These can not only create security vulnerabilities when (or long after) they appear on computers and devices in our network, but they can significantly slow down system and network performance (especially if they are using your computers to “mine” BitCoin and other digital currency), but can also delete important data files (notably the “I Love You” virus form a few years back), or even encrypt some or all computers on your network and only unlock them if a usurious BitCoin payment is made.

Hardware Failures

We can help recover your data from any storage regardless the way it was lost. There are a variety of hardware failures that we have seen over the years, including hard drive failures, bat sectors, failure of a drive to “boot”, failure after a S.M.A.R.T. error notification. Sometimes a user accidentally deletes a folder, a partition, or an entire drive.

We have a variety of tools to recover data from a failed hard drive, including data in your Windows folders (documents, Videos, Photos, Music) and e-mails (which may be stored in various folders on your PC, depending on the application) and email settings, preferences, message rules, and contacts.

Floods, Fire and Other Dangers

The flood of 2013 was a teachable moment for many businesses located in Calgary’s Downtown, Beltline, and inner City communities. With less than 2 hours notice. power was cut off, transportation in & out of the core was cut off as the city built up its flood defences (including dikes and berms), and shut down key underground electrical infrastructure to prevent even worse damage.

We had several clients who instantly lost access to their office computers, office network, and their internet and email. We setup out clients on temporary off-site servers, restored from our off-site backups, got Shaw to immediately expand internet bandwidth (kudos to Shaw for that!), giving clients access to their information over the emergency until things returned to normal over the next week.
