A disappointing customer experience today. I booked the appointment in advance for a simple change of tires and a regular 5000 km service. I brought the car in at 10 am and was told that I would be called around noon with an expected time for pickup. No call. I phoned three times at 4 pm, with one voicemail, one hang up by a busy receptionist and finally a discussion. I was told that my car was on the hoist, being serviced and that I could pick it up at 5:45 pm. On arriving at 5:45 pm an apology was mumbled that the car on the hoist was not mine, a case of mistaken car identity, and that because they had six cars to service today that they didn't get to mine. Oh well..I'm in Vancouver for a couple of days and so I'll have the work done there. Disappointed . ?

Bought a used tire, had to fill it three times already and it's been less than 10 days since I bought the thing! I would have paid more for a newer tire that doesn't leak, but they offered this one at a deal!

Phoned SMD with an exhaust problem with my truck on a Thursday afternoon. I explained i was in no rush but would like someone to take a quick look so parts could be ordered and repaired any time in the next 30 days. Jim agreed that after 10am the next day would be good so i suggested 10:30. He agreed, and I arrived the next day at 10:35. The big guy at reception replied that Jim was in a meeting, not available. Neither was anyone else in the shop available for a 2 minute check. I went somewhere else and will not return, and I will also let my local friends to avoid appointments, which are clearly not honoured.

Good service, pretty fast turnarounds generally. Biggest mechanic shop in Whistler. My experiences have always been pleasant. There are always stories good and bad about the service from any mechanic but I cannot say I’ve personally had a bad experience or ever felt mislead.

Worst "service" i ever had. Not only did they forget that I had a scheduled appointment because my cooling system failed, they also failed to give it a test drive after they'd changed the water pump, nonetheless charging me for the "repair" (600$). Picked it up, overheating was worse than before. So brought it in again. The next day I called (here again, they never called me) to check on my car just to have the mechanic explain to me that there is very bad news - the head gasket isnt sealing anymore. So I paid for a repair that didnt change anything, but make it worse. No refund, no admitting of guilt, a total scam. Don't ever go there, its disgraceful.

Every single person at this business treated us with kindness and respect. When they found my cars troubles would get into big bucks, and better off a warranty claim, they called me and suggested it. Their fee for the disvovery was very fair. Thanks so much, SMD automotive.

I have taken my different vehicles that I have owned to SMD for over a decade and have always had great service and great experiences. I always feel like they have my best interest in mind. They have worked with whatever budget I have while being honest and doing the job propery every time.

ALL CUSTOMERS READ THE FOLLOWING EMAIL: The following email was sent on October 26, 2021, and there was no reply from SMD Auto. Dear SMD Auto, On July 27th, 2021, I booked in a pre-purchase inspection on a GMC Sierra 1500. The only concerns listed on the report were a broken oil pressure gauge and no tread on the rear tires. Your mechanics gave us confidence that the vehicle was in good working order for our cross-Canada road trip and I went ahead with the purchase. A few weeks after taking ownership of the vehicle, we noticed that the brakes would occasionally shudder or make a grinding/scraping noise when braking. We ignored it for the meantime. On August 31st, 2021, just outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario, the brake pedal dropped almost to the floor while driving, and the β€˜Service Brake System’ message was displayed on the dash. There was no braking material left in the rear drums and the wheel cylinder ruptured. This left us in need of a full rear brake replacement - drums, wheel cylinders, shoes, and a new master cylinder, which set us back just over $1100. On the SMD inspection report it says that brakes, pads, shoes, and drums were inspected as part of the pre-purchase inspection. The brake lines were also identified as badly rusted. I’m not sure how such a severe safety issue could pass through your rigorous pre-purchase inspection report checklist, raising concerns about the thoroughness of your pre-purchase inspections on other vehicles. The tech who performed the inspection was Jens Steinebrunner and the service advisor was Shanice Smith. We paid $119.56 for the service. I look forward to hearing back from you, Kieran Clark
