My husband and I are very happy with our new retaining wall and the overall job to redo our driveway at our rental property. Our grandson really enjoyed watching all the workers and machinery! The best COVID experience we have had so far! Thanks Adam!

I've been with simcoe contracting for 4 or 5 years. Adam and his team are awesome. Fair price for snow removal. They are also great at doing special requests. They clear an area at the curb for me so I can have room to put out my garbage. Keep up the great work Adam. Thank you for a great season.

I wrote a review on "Simcoe rentals" as I had problems with this guy in the summer. But he's extremely unprofessional and after telling me 2 times that rental equipment was available, in both situations he canceled last minute on me and told me there was nothing he could do.

We contacted Simcoe Contracting early in the year to get a quote to do our backyard patio, driveway and walkway interlocking. They were one of three companies that we chose to get a quotes from. We wanted to ensure that not only did we get a reasonable price, but that we also felt comfortable with the company that was going to do our work. Adam was extremely knowledgeable and came across as very honest. His quote was reasonable and the timelines he provided worked with the deadlines that we needed. He started on time. His crew was extremely efficient, hard working and respectful of our home and property. Every day they cleaned up and left our property as clean and neat as they had found it. We were so impressed with Adam' and his teams work ethics, knowledge and pricing that we decided to give him our whole outdoor project and more. In addition to the interlock patio, walkway, and driveway, we had him build us an amazing outdoor kitchen complete with a fridge, sink and bbq, which he designed with our taste and budget in mind. He had our inground sprinklers system installed, as well outdoor potlights around our roofline. He replaced the damaged grass with new sod, and even added mulch to our front garden. The whole job was completed on time and on budget. I would highly recommend this professional company to any of my family and friends. This is a reliable, honest company that gets the job done at an A+ level. Thank you Adam and team for the great work Isy and John

Adam had his crew come out and do our interlock driveway, a retaining wall, and fix drainage issues on our property. The crew was amazing, the driveway looks like a million dollars. The work was so well done, we've had them come back and do the sodding for our property. The crew did the job in three days and now the property looks complete and even better than ever. For anything you need done outside, call Adam!!!

We had a negative experience with Simcoe Contracting. In spring 2020 we requested quotes from contractors for a stone patio area between our cottage and our garage, and an asphalt driveway with a stone border. We gave the job to Simcoe Contracting based on the competitive quote, and our perception of the contractor’s experience (from his reassurances that he could handle the grading and drainage issues, and positive references). The job started several weeks later than its September start date resulting in further delay due to late October and November rains. After the excavation was done and the pavers laid, we were informed that the original quote did not include asphalt, and that would cost another $8,000. We feel we were deliberately misled as our original request was a quote for an asphalt driveway with a stone border and a stone patio area. If a key component of a project (such as asphalt on a new driveway) is not included in a quote it should be stated up front and in writing, with an estimate of what the asphalt would cost. In this way contractors could be compared on the same basis. We also were charged extra for additional drains that were added to the project when heavy rain halted work due to pooling water. This is despite our having told the contractor that we were undertaking this job due to drainage problems on and around the driveway, and Simcoe Contracting having proposed how to handle this. As it turned out, the drains they installed are too high and they do next to nothing at all. Due to the above and other issues, we negotiated a lower payment than the contractor charged. The negotiations were very contentious and neither we nor the contractor were happy with the outcome. In the spring of 2021, we saw that we still had severe drainage issues (see the picture). The grading was not done correctly. There was pooling and the drains didn’t catch much of anything besides leaves. We hired another contractor to fix the problem. After excavating the area where the water was pooling, the second contractor informed us that there were still old paving stones, old aluminum edging and the original screening bed from the previous driveway. This is why the lawn wouldn't dry out, as water couldn't penetrate it. The second contractor had to remove the debris not removed by Simcoe Contracting, and add 3 tons of gravel along with new topsoil and sod. The second contractor also pointed out that either no, or not enough, polymeric sand was applied between the pavers because we are already getting weeds between the stones in the first season. These are not the only issues we had with this job, but they are the most egregious ones. At this point I am writing about our experience as a warning to other prospective clients of this company. On a positive note, the young men on the job were hard-working, and polite and seem to have done a good job laying the pavers. If we encounter more issues over the next couple of years I will post an update.
