Shades of Grey Tattoo

My friend and I came here after doing some research looking to get our first tattoos. We both really liked Jodie's style and brought our concepts to her in a consultation after just walking in one day to see if we could set one up. She was extremely open to our ideas, asked questions about what kind of things we liked, and discussed placement. She also gave her input on things she thought could make it even better. We never felt judged or like she wasn't interested in helping us get something cool. The deposit was fair and the actual design she did for each of us really reflected the care and talent she puts into her work. She also showed a lot of integrity when a delay came up in my design and she called to let me know that she didn't want to rush it and asked if we could postpone by a couple of days. The final art for both of us was more than we could have hoped for! The actual sessions were friendly, comfortable, and quick! Jodie has a steady hand and her lines are confident and her shading smooth. A number of people have complimented my large chest piece and how bold and clean the lines are! My friend's piece is readable and beautiful. I can't wait to get the shading finished on my chest piece in May! Overall, a great shop and a top-notch experience! Everyone was friendly, funny, professional, and the shop is kept clean even as they are in the process of moving spaces. I would definitely recommend coming here for any work you're looking to get done.

Christopher did lovely work on my new sternum tattoo. Everyone at the shop was professional and courteous. Hourly rates were more than reasonable. I should note that vegan inks are available, for those who want them. Consultations that I had with Chris were very productive. My ideas were taken seriously, and built upon based on experience and expertise. I’m immensely appreciative of his professionalism, especially considering placement of the tattoo. The tattoo studio space itself is clean, well-maintained, and spacious enough that you don’t feel overly crowded when other clients are in the studio at the same time. What I liked most about getting work done here is that it didn’t feel at all pretentious, unlike some other studios that I’ve visited. Would recommend to others!

I can't say enough great things about Chris and the entire staff at Shades of Grey. They are all very friendly and welcoming. The shop has a great relaxed vibe. I contacted Chris with a rough concept of what I was thinking of and he instantly dove into it. We talked a bit about what I was thinking of and he turned my scattered ideas into an amazing custom piece. He really developed it a lot further than I could have imagined. Chris is an exceptional artist; his work is clean and beautiful. Chris was extremely professional and kind throughout the entire process. He took the time to answer all my questions and make me feel comfortable. It's easy to see he takes great pride in his craft.

Awesome atmosphere & artists! I went in for a simple script tattoo and booked another session for a back piece. I’m a pretty picky person and Chris was able to instantly identify with what I wanted and the ideas that I had. The 2 tattoos that I got from him were my first ever and meant a lot and he did an amazing job. He made me feel comfortable and made sure I was aware of everything along the way. Would recommend this shop and all their artists.

I've had all my tattoos done by Joel and couldn't be happier. Everyone that I have talked to here is also very friendly and it's a great atmosphere overall. Can't wait to get more work done!

I had contacted Shades of Grey, in the Fall of 2020, to inquire about getting a tattoo there. I also indicated the type of tattoo that I was interested in. They were, initially, prompt in getting back to me, were supportive about the process, and stated that they simply needed some sort of reference on the parameters and dimensions (which I then gave to them) for the tattoo, while adding that they would relay this to their artists who, in turn, would get back to me if interested. I waited for a few weeks, but did not receive any further feedback. I figured that they were backed-up with business. Shortly after that, due to an escalation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the province around the holiday season, tattoo parlours were temporarily closed. So, I understood that this was a reasonable basis for their not reaching out at that time. In any case, tattoo parlours have been allowed to be open again for months now and, nearly a half a year after my initial inquiry, I have yet to hear anything further from Shades of Grey. If they weren’t interested in completing the tattoo (although I don’t know why) then that is their right as an operation. Still, they could have, at the very least, extended the professional courtesy of informing me of this. Fortunately, I was able to book at another establishment without issue.

Absolutely thrilled with the service and art from Joel. Super friendly and very easy to work with. He had awesome suggestions and made the whole experience enjoyable. Absolutely will get more ink here in the future.

I had an awesome experience with my artist Mac Plant. He was great to work with, especially for bouncing ideas back and forth. It was my first tattoo, and on top of that I'm super picky, so it was a relief to have back and forth with someone as patient as Mac is. Couldn't be happier with the end result and would ABSOLUTELY recommend Mac for anyone looking at getting a tattoo. I will be going back to Mac for future tattoos... Thanks again Mac!
