This is the best branch I've been to. Hardly any waiting time to speak with a representative. They always seem to have enough staff on. Ben the branch manager? Is extremely helpful and never makes you feel rushed and does a great job explaining everything.

I got a new scotiabank amex and I activated it by phone. It did not give me a pin code so I called customer service and was told that there was a letter with the pin and that I did not get it. But no problem, I could just go to any branch and they will put the pin on for me. So I went to 1 w broadway branch which is the closest to my work. At the counter I was met by a woman which I did not have a chance to get her name. But she was a younger heavier set woman. I told her my issue and she started asking me if I had an account with them which I said no. She asked for ID which I provided my drivers license and asked for secondary ID which I provided. Then she asked for secondary picture ID, at which point I asked her why they needed secondary picture ID since I had a DL and many other ID with my name on it. She ignored my question and rudely repeated that she needed another picture ID. When I asked my question again, she said it was for my own protection. She then asked me to write my mother name on a piece of paper, at which point I mentioned that , that was not confirming information and it was compiling information. I am not a scotiabank account customer. I just wanted my card pin changed. She got very upset and said that I needed to talk to their manager. I waited a long time until she came back and told me that I need to go to my home branch. I asked to talk to the manager, Lucho. I told him that I do not have a home branch and I was told that any branch could do this very simple thing. He said that I need to go to brentwood which is closer to my house and that all of this is for my protection. I left the branch and called customer service. They told me that what I have been told at this branch was simply a lie. That there is no home branch and any branch could do this for me with one picture ID. So I went to the next closest branch and changed the pin in three minutes. Not five minutes, three minutes. One picture ID. So if you want to be treated rudely by people determined to waste your time and look you in the face while lying to you (according to their own customer service) and then tell you its for your own protection, then this place is for you.

My home branch is at your Vancouver location on Broadway and Ontario street. Their branch hours are 9:30 to 4:00 Monday to Friday. I do not know one person who has a normal weekday job that can get to this branch to do banking. It’s infuriating since most banks offer much better customer service and better hours. This needs to change. I have been a loyal customer at Scotia since I first opened a bank and I can say now, the only thing good about Scotiabank is that you have scene points. This is pathetic considering you are in charge of my money. I have been told by other branches that have REASONABLE hours to go to my own branch which is impossible since you can’t even stay open till 5:00. This needs to change or you will loose loyal customers.

I have never left a review anywhere, so take that for what it's worth. This is hands down the worst service I have ever had in my life. We had a mortgage with them and needed to renew it and were told that everything was fine, then six weeks later, after two weeks of trying to email, phone and even stop by the branch, the mortgage broker (William Chung) tells us he never submitted ANYTHING and claims he lost our paperwork. I might add that we only got through to him at all after phoning head office and having them put us directly through to him. At this point, we will apparently not make our deadline with our mortgage and in turn lose our home. He even tells us we need an appraisal done, which we already had just before we went in. Of course, he's forgotten this, because...again, he lost all our paperwork. We go in to the branch to see if there is anything that can be done to expedite the process, only to find out William has since changed his story and the branch manager informs us that we're not likely to make the deadline, thus they are not willing to submit the application. We are basically told that they won't work with us anymore. The entire time, William is there and will not even look at me. No apology. No accountability. No options. Essentially: screw you, get out. Scotiabank might not be the worst bank as a whole, but I cannot believe that these two people have jobs anywhere after what I experienced. Never in my life have I seen someone in a professional setting behave like this. It is a sure thing that I am going to the Better Business Bureau and writing all the letters to the editor that I can, and I am waiting to find out what legal action I might be able to take. If you want to use their ATM, sure, but if you have any significant business whatsoever, do yourself a huge favor and stay away from here.

Hands down worst service of my life! I wish I could give negative stars. I had the same experience as other reviewer (Felix) with William Chung and my mortgage renewal. After having submitted all of the documents he requested for my mortgage renewal a month before the deadline, I called and emailed repeatedly for an update with zero response. I had to call the head office several times to finally hear back from William Chung at which point he said he misplaced my paperwork, having never submitted it, and that I would have to reprint everything and send it to him with another appraisal (just had one done!). When I went into the office the branch manager said they would not accept my application because they didn’t have time to rush it since there was only 10 days left till the deadline. The incompetence of these two is unbelievable! They should not be working with other people’s money or mortgages! Thanks to my local credit union for doing a spectacular job and working overtime to apply for a mortgage in less than 10 days I was able to keep my home. And I now get member rewards back each year! Never using scotia bank again, and neither should anyone else.

If you are stuck on Scotia, at least DO NOT make this your home branch. Lousy hours, and employees are so used to people having negative experiences that it doesn't even phase them.

The person at teller was no helpful at all. For an easy draft he took so long checking my home branch and my daily allowances and other questions!! I told him I am in my lunch break and this shouldn't take so long! But he still was checking policies!! At the end I asked for his manager help and he went to his manager in their office which took another 10 minutes. So I finally called him and ask him to give my draft back if he cant help so I take it to another helpful bank!

Hands down last bank branch you want to go to. Went in today for a scheduled appointment which was altered without any communication. The customer representative tried to help out as much as possible but then again it wasn't her job. No advisors ready to assist and require me to reschedule for another day with another person. I have been with Scotia for the longest time but this by far made it the worst experience ever.
