About Save-On-Foods

At Save-On-Foods, going the extra mile is nothing new. Actually, we’ve gone above and beyond in all areas of our business since we started, way back in 1915. Originally, we were called Overwaitea Food Group because of the founder’s practice of selling 18 ounces of tea for the price of 16, and the name “overweight tea” stuck. Fast forward over 100 years and that name has changed, but we’re still known for delivering extra value to our customers. Today our company is best known for its most prominent banner—Save-On-Foods—but also includes PriceSmart Foods, Urban Fare and Bulkley Valley Wholesale.

BAD SERVICE. I could NOT find an advertised special , I got no help and no rain check was offered. So I tried for a price match, although they advertise that they DO price match they would not honour that either. When I went to customer service, she was rude and obnoxious and called security to have me escorted out of the store, This is NOT a store that I would return to or would recommend.

Fresh vegetables and fruit. Delicious, diverse, unique taste ,and fresh cakes. The bakery manager is a real gentleman. Once I was in a hurry, he did whatever he could. I really felt happy that someone is caring about my problem.

Cashiers aren't trained properly and get mad when you bring up the Scanning Code of Practice. Why have posters up at the registers if you don't follow the practice? Seriously train your cashiers better. It's embarrassing when the security doorman is trying to help 3 cashiers change a price to 0 because it scanned incorrectly. I avoid this location because of it.

I had bought a couple of clubs of salami cause there is no sliced salami. I asked the young girl if she could slice them for me and after making sure it was all right with her manager she happily sliced them for me thx?

This Save On is a beautiful store , just the right size to get your groceries quickly . The staff our super friendly . The stars of the store are Isabelle and Lori . Lori even puts your groceries in your cart for you , nobody does that . She loves the Roughriders and always eager to talk about our team. Isabelle is amazing at customer service she goes the extra mile to help you . There’s also a blonde lady there who I believe is a manager she is often at the customer service counter, she is great at customer service and always friendly . Even the security guards are super friendly , I always feel safe in that store. It’s never a problem to have your flowers wrapped !Thank you Save On for having such great people.

Really need to get your self checkouts to recognize the grocery bag weights that you provide. Every time I checkout they "mismatch" weight and then stuck for minutes for an employee to scan the screen. Its starting to get very frustrating as this has happened for months now.

Funny story - me and my daughter went to this Save On Food store on May 21 to order a birthday cake for my wife. We chose the style of one cake on display shelf but STRESSED that we would need a freshly baked one tomorrow because the original label on the display cake showed it’s already 4-day old (made in May 18). The staff, of course, guaranteed. The next day when I picked up the cake, I noticed the cake on display was gone. When I casually mentioned this to my family at home, my daughter said she remembered one within the circle of gumballs on top of the cake yesterday was in a slightly different color. And luckily, we took a picture of the cake yesterday because she liked it so much. So I compared the photo with the actual cake and found out in shock that it was the SAME cake. In short, they lied to us about making a new cake, and instead, they only printed out a fake label to put on this more than five-day-old one indicating it was packaged on May 22. I went back to the store today to file a complaint to the store manager. She actually is the same person that guaranteed a fresh cake 3 days ago. When I mentioned I noticed the display cake was gone, she said immediately in confident that they threw away the old cake on Thursday night (May 21, two day before the original expiration date?!). I said calmly with a smile, β€œ actually I know for a fact that you didn’t.” :-))) Because of the undeniable evidence I have, they eventually admitted it was the same cake and apologized, saying this was due to miscommunication in their process. They merely refunded me, well, actually one dollar less than what I paid. I am wondering: what type of β€˜miscommunication’ made it okay to serve an almost expired birthday cake knowingly with a fake label to the customer? As a communications professional myself, I would recommend the store manager to listen carefully to the whole complaint story first before making any comments next time. That way, you will not end up telling another lie to cover up the previous lie, am I right?

I always got my plant base products at save ons at this location and never had an issue until now. Very disappointed to look at the expired date before I was about to cook. Pattys I just bought on the 29th of 2022. And the Expiry date is from December 2021.
