Sandaraska Park

I love being able to camp with my horse .. its a beautiful place with amazing trails .. just wish check out wasn't at 11am it's cutting it close with horses and tents

Great place to take the horses and camp. Full electrical & water with fairly private sites. Very clean!!

Great place to enjoy nature . Trails are awesome we had horses as well as atv's . Everyone had a great time. Shelters are large and lots are larger. Will definitely go again.

Booked online to stay for two nights in late June with our family. Upon arrival found that the park has a severe gypsy moth infestation throughout the park. Thousands of creepy crawly centipede things on our site. In the trees, on the ground, covering the picnic table and fire pit. Stand still outside for ten seconds and you'll have a few up to your knees. The park looks like a ghost town with bare trees, no leaves, throughout. We stayed in our trailer for the evening and night and came out the next morning to pack up and leave, wasting our second night. It took us several hours to try to remove as many critters as we could from our trailer and awning, and then a few more hours once we got home to go over the rig and really get rid of them all. I was disappointed that there was no notice on their website about this issue when we went to book. Also when checking in, the lady at the desk while pleasant and lovely, didn't mention a thing about what we were about to go witness and experience. She even sold me two bags of firewood, as if it might be possible to sit out and enjoy at night. Overall, a terrible experience. I'll give the park one star for the amenities - the washrooms were very nice (insect free!) and the pool (despite having many swimming centipedes) was nice as well. Another star for the seasonal campers there who are struggling with this problem - they were all so pleasant and friendly and offering to help us spray our site with some sort of solution. It seems like a lot of the seasonal people there are stuck inside their trailers most of the time, and they all seem very frustrated with the infestation, but are all still very kind people. Seems like without the infestation, this place might be ok.

We went to Sandaraska park so we could go off-roading in our Jeep in Ganaraska Forest. We set up our tent in spot 67 which was right at the central hub right across from the washrooms, pool & playgrounds. The staff and seasonal campers were very friendly and helpful but also provided us with privacy. We will definitely be back again!

I've tent camped here twice, once last year while hiking the Oak Ridges trail and once this year for a little weekend getaway. The pool is great, the sites are big, the washrooms are clean. Overall a very nice place to stay. I was impressed with the quiet here. No partying or loud music at night made for a good nights sleep. Although I don't own a horse, I enjoyed walking around the park and seeing everyone's horses and chatting with some of the residents. People here are friendly. The Ganaraska forest has beautiful trails but I was a bit dissappointed with the number of dirt bikes going through there since I came to hike through a nice quiet forest. They are loud, smelly and destroy the trails. I guess that isn't the fault of Sandaraska though.

Well what can you say, if you like a Well maintained campground with lots to do, Dirt Bike/Atv or riding your horse, plus the seasonal rates are on the better side of affordable relative to other Campgrounds around.
