About San Rufo Homes

Posted on May 18, 2022 in Blog

If you want to make your bedroom as beautiful, fashionable and up to date as possible, you’ll need to focus on a variety of elements. Creating the perfect look for a room doesn’t come from just one or two changes, but from blending elements together in a harmonious manner. Let’s look at some of the main points to consider for creating a spectacular bedroom.

Furniture Ideas

The type of furniture you want for you bedroom will depend on factors such as the size of the room, the decor of the home in general and your personal taste. There are, however, some principles that apply across the board for furnishing your bedroom in a modern and attractive style.

Your furniture should be coordinated rather than matching. Furniture that matches doesn’t create a contemporary or sophisticated look. You’re better off going for a trendier, more idiosyncratic look. This means your bed, dresser, tables, chairs and any other pieces in the bedroom should complement one another, but they don’t have to match perfectly.

Another principle to keep in mind is spacing. No matter how elegant your furniture may be, if everything is too close together, the room will have a cramped, closed-in feel. Make sure you create enough space so that all of the room’s elements can be appreciated.

Let There Be Light

Lighting is one of the primary factors that creates the mood of a room. This includes both natural and artificial light. Natural light can be regulated by using your window coverings – shades, curtains, blinds or drapes. When it comes to artificial light, overhead lighting creates the most dramatic and attractive look. While people usually use more subdued lighting in the bedroom, don’t be afraid to make a bolder statement with more elaborate hanging fixtures or chandeliers. These should, of course, harmonize with the overall style of the room.

Colour Palettes

The colours of your walls, floor, window coverings and even bedding will have a big impact on your bedroom’s appearance. Today’s design trends emphasize warm and neutral colours. The general principle to remember is that more subdued colours are sexier, and more sophisticated, bright colours make a louder, obvious statement.

There is even evidence that the colours of your bedroom have an impact on the way you sleep. That’s why you should try to choose colours that have a calming effect on the eyes and brain, like blues and yellows. Remember that wall hangings, such as artwork, mirrors and decorations also contribute to the room’s colour palette.

One thing to note: we spend about 1/3 of our lives in bed. Go ahead and splurge on the best mattress, pillows and bedding you can afford and make that time count!

Functional Functionality

The modern bedroom is decorated to fit with our busy and multifaceted lifestyles. Many people like to read, enjoy a midnight snack or surf their iPads in their bedrooms. You can make your bedroom more comfortable and versatile by adding features that can accommodate these types of activities.

A table with a pullout tray, for example, makes it convenient to eat a snack or small meal. A reading lamp and a chaise lounge provide the right ambiance to curl up with a book before going to sleep. The desk you have in your bedroom should be equipped with enough storage space so that you can keep plenty of convenient items within easy reach.

These are some points to keep in mind if you want your bedroom to be as comfortable as possible. When decorating, you always have to consider your own preferences and the basic style used throughout your home. What matters more than anything else is that the people who actually sleep in your bedroom find it beautiful and comfortable!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire team of San Rufo homes for a job well done with our new home. Prior to building with you, I had visited many builders and made several inquiries. Some of the builders which I visited were not convincing. I saw the quality of their build and was not totally impressed. Secondly their approach to me as a customer never felt like they had my best interest at heart, they were too pushy about making the sales. The first person that Introduced me to San Rufo never built with San rufo but he said that he wished he did. After that, we visited another friend who just wanted me to see his house and that was the beginning of my interest in San Rufo. He gave the contact to Corrina Larsen and that started our Journey. Corrina showed a total difference from other sales representatives that I spoke with. She showed interest not on the sales but about my family’s desires. She made me write a list of what we wanted before talking about a price and she started working towards it. Even when everything was not going out according to her plans she reaches out to Mr. John and he spoke with me personally. That was the nail on the coffin. I took great pride in been able to speak with the owner of a company who necessarily does not have to talk to every client. I was really impressed, only an owner who is interested in his customer’s satisfaction will take time to call them on the phone. Every of my interests were attended to, many were done better than I expected. My bathroom, my stairs, the entrance, fireplace, island, everything. Thank you very much. Over the yuletide, I had visits by a few friends who could not believe that some of the fixtures of our house were regular and not upgrades as seen at their builders. I will make sure to refer them in future. Corinna did a good job on this one, keep up the good work. Thank you for attending to all my concerns, your plan was perfect. Thank you for alleviating all my fears. San Rufo, thank you for your customer first approach. You are the best.

We built a custom home with San Rufo and had a very positive and fun experience! Corrinna, the sales manager, was with us every step of the way and gave open and honest feedback and information. We also got to speak with the owner of the company (John) - the perks of choosing a local builder! One of the most important aspects for us when we were choosing a builder was choosing one that we could trust, and we knew exactly what was happening with our home every step of the way, no surprises or hidden costs. We would absolutely recommend San Rufo to anyone wishing to build their dream home! We are so happy with our new home!

I built with this company and I would recommend to any new home buyer. Corrina and John were easy to negotiate with and after service repairs are going smoothly. All in all everything went smoothly and I love my beautiful custom home.

I am very impressed with San Rufo. John's company is doing a great job building our home. John himself has been directly involved with our build. He has added a lot of value with his suggestions and his experience. Corrinna really cares about her clients and is always helping us with our home. She is very personable and easy to work with. She is always a pleasure to work with. Heather did a great job with our design and had great recommendations. She cares about making the home right which is very nice to see. Dallas, the PM, is engaged and responsive. I'm looking forward to seeing his progress with our build. Again, Great job by the San Rufo Team and we are very happy we partnered with them on our build.

Absolutely awful company. If I could give zero stars that would be my rating. Their customer service has got to be the most dreadful experience. Sales was great until we paid them, then all communication stopped. We would have to send the same email over and over again in order to get a response. If they didn’t know the answer or didn’t want to answer then they just ignored us. Same thing happened on the warranty side. We would email with questions and and if they didn’t like the question they would just ignore them. We moved in with a hole in our kitchen sink. We were told on possession that it would be addressed at our 2 month warranty, needless to say we have lived in the house for 13 months and we still have the hole in our sink and have been unable to fill it with water for all this time. We email monthly asking for updates and they just keep telling us they are β€œworking” on it. When scheduling appointments they ask you to pick a time but then you have people showing up on different days because they didn’t/forgot to schedule certain trades. When fixing problems at 1yr warranty they flat out told us that they do the bare minimum to meet requirements and when asking why the other builders in the area do these fixes, their response was the other builders go above and beyond, whereas San Rufo does not. We had AC installed the summer after moving in and they found that our furnace had been leaking all along from connections not being tightened and our new furnace was all rusted. We also continually smelt gas in our basement and put out an emergency call with ATCO who came out and told us our gas numbers were through the roof and that two of our pipes weren’t connected properly as it looked like a rushed job and that it was so poorly done they actually didn’t know how our house had passed final inspection. All in all we have counted down the days till we don’t have to deal with this company anymore. We will never build with them again and will never recommend this company to anyone.

Bought a quick possession home and was expected to notice and address all deficiencies on day of move in when it was the first time we were seeing the home completed. Normally you view the home a week prior and get to take your time. The site supervisor rushed our inspection the day of and told us we would have a week to look things over which was incorrect information. One week in and my ensuite tub flooded into my bedroom. I needed to keep contacting San Rufo in order to get my tub fixed as they were awaiting approval from the manufacturer, leaving me without a shower/tub to use. This is my 3rd new home I’ve owned and the quality of craftmanship and attention to detail is not there - door handles on the front closet are installed upside down, toilet paper holder is ready to fall off, the island has permanent stains and markings from construction, the paint job was sloppy as I’ve had to remove paint from the flooring/cabinets. Overall, I would not recommend this builder to any family or friends.

We built our home in Riverside with San Rufo. It was a easy experience. Our Project Manager, Chris Thompson, listened to our questions and concerns along the way. Thete were a few minor things, as is the case with any new build, that Chris got the trades to address. Thank you, Chris! The warranty team is very responsive. All in all a very pleasant experience. I would recommend San Rufo if you are looking to build your home and have it custo.ized to suit your needs.

Recently visited two of their latest infills in the Crestwood area and I was impressed. Great additions to the community- wish all infill was as well designed as these!
