My Parrish when I was growing up. An amazing church that looks like a small cathedral. Very good Mass.

Fine example of period architecture. Attended Mass a few times here in my travels and would be very satisfied to call this my home parish.

I attended Saint Ann's church June 15, 2019 to attend Mary Lynne Charlebois 's funeral mass. The Priest was way out of line. He said he welcomed everyone, but boldly announced the only Catholics whom received their First Communion, went to church every Sunday and regularly went to confession were the only ones allowed to receive communion. I was 5th in line and the 1st one was a little girl, he asked if she received her first communion, she said yes and her mother was 3rd in line and confirmed that she did receive her first communion. He asked her what first communion means and she couldn't reply. He refused to give her communion and told her to sit down and later he would explain to her what it means. He did the same to the next child. Mary Lynne's daughter was next and refused her too. Then he yelled at everyone in the church whom was allowed to receive communion. .."I explained this to you all". The next child, he gave him communion and the boy was walking away and the Priest grabbed him and said you don't walk away with bread and explained to the totally confused little boy. I was next and not feeling very welcome and a tat nervous if he was going to make another spectacle. I was okay. But was all this necessary? What I learned or felt from this priest was not to go to church, as YOU'RE not Welcome. Plus he didn't even bless Mary Lynne's Urn with her ashes. Shame, shame . You charged the family for a funeral mass, $400.00. Please return the money, as no funeral mass was performed. Only a Priest with his beliefs and an invisible yard stick. My mom was from Penetang and we always went to this church . She's in heaven now and can bet she's very upset. At the Celebration of Life, everyone talked about the a fair with the Priest at the church. Next time, I'm in Penetang I will attend mass, but not if this Priest is there!

I've worked on the pipe organ in this church several times starting 1984 but not since about 1995. I've not attended a service in this unique church edifice and cannot comment in that capacity, however, I've worked in hundreds of churches, schools, etc., throughout S. Central Ontario and no church I've been in has better acoustics than St. Anne's. The pipe organ is very old, small and plain but in the resounding acoustic environment that is St. Anne's, the organ almost sounds like the organ in Westminster Abbey. The church exterior is made of cut granite (!) and I have to wonder if this extremely hard and difficult to work-with stone is responsible for the invisible treasure that is to be found inside. I hope nothing has injured the acoustics in the ensuing 22 years since my last visit. Thanks for reading...

A lot of history comes with this church, Because it's over 175 years old. this is the 3rd church that was built on the site, It is grandeur inside and out, and was promoted as the cathedral of the north. I believe it is still the biggest roman catholic church outside of the Toronto GTA . I was there for a service when my mother passed and it reminded me of grand churches of Europe. On a hill top overlooking the waters of Penetang it is a beautiful site.
