Our Story
✻
The Rose & Crown pub in Calgary was originally a funeral home, built in the 1920’s. The historic building was made into a bar in 1986. When renovating, the owners only changed what was needed to make it a functional bar. If they could keep aspects that kept it historic, they would. On the third floor you will find the original wallpaper and many artifacts that have been there since the first owners. Walking into to the Rose is very comforting with a warm yellow color and dark wood, it is the perfect place to grab a pint after a hard day of work.
The Rose is rated on of the top four haunted places in Calgary. From its previous use as a funeral home it is no wonder that it is believed ghosts occupy some of the space. It is said that a little boy died in the house who still shows his presence in pictures. Almost everyone who has worked in the building has had some type of encounter or the feeling they’re not alone.

Pretty good bar, the food is also tasty. I particularly like the chicken wings. Unfortunately they are not allowed dogs in patio anymore.

This is still one of my favourites pubs in Calgary. Like the Cat n Fiddle, it's a renovated funeral home. The owners have done a great job of maintaining the place. Our service was prompt and friendly. Food was good and the prices were reasono.

They are open for outdoor dining during the covid restrictions and have set up an entire outdoor dining area in the parking lot rather than a very crowded patio like other places in the area. The person who seated us as well as the server were very friendly and super considerate! We had the spinach dip, fish tacos, and steak sandwich and they were all delicious. Definitely check them out if you're looking for a place to sit down and have a great dinner off 17th.

The bar is a bit old which of a certain mystique, I really liked the style, I knew that the building in its beginnings was a funeral home which attracted my attention to be in an hunted place. Good service, I just had a beer that the waitress suggested and it was very tasty, but they also hace food options and also live music. It is a good place to meet friends, have a drink and eat something.

Finally got to The Rose & Crown pub. Felt like I was actually in Dublin, such an authentic and wonderful pub atmosphere. We went for their Wednesday night Wings night. Delicious wings and a selection of 8 different flavours. Wings are .44$ each, you can't beat that deal. We ordered hot/Buffalo, Jamaican Jerk, Teriyaki and Mango Bourbon. All were very tasty but my personal favourites were the Jamaican Jerk (such good spice flavours) and the Buffalo because I love a little spice in my life. We started with the "to die for" spinach dip which comes with the freshest bread for dipping. We also ordered the truffle fries- a large shareable portion in a V shaped server ( wish I had taken a photo) and well seasoned with seasoning and parmesan cheese. Very tasty indeed! Naturally, we had several rounds of Guinness to go with our meal. Each one perfectly poured ? Our only disappointment was that they didn't have the Guinness Chocolate Cheesecake available :(. We ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding instead which was a delicious alternative. The service was great. Jordan, our waitress, was friendly, helpful, and very efficient and knew when to drop by our table just when we wanted to order something else. All in all, we had a very enjoyable evening and dinner and will definitely be back soon!

Nice and cozy pub for a good night out with friends and co-workers. They have lots of smart tv’s for sports game. They also have plenty of tables on both upper and main floor. I find the upper a bit quiet, yet scary (this is a former funeral home) and the waitress enjoyably told us some creepy stories haha. I wish they renovate their interior more. But I’d still go back here for sure!

I LOVED the food! Excellent service, kind waitress' rustic decor. Felt cozy. I was visiting Calgary this weekend and found this pub and had an amazing time. Great portions , the salad was so good. Nachos were delicious and would be perfect for a group of friends willing to share. A little while into our meal the manager came up , introduced himself, and offered me, my mom and my brother tickets to tonight's Flames vs Canucks game. I have never been to an NHL game and had such a blast. Thank you so much
