Rose & Onyx Hair Company Ltd. has grown so much in 3 years. Built with our own hands, we know every board and nail in the salon and we preferred re-used, repurposed and up-cycled materials as we built our inviting space.
From our humble opening days to todays full blown team and busy daily operation and the launch of our Hair Clinic, we have grown enormously. Because of our community. Because of our remarkable clientele and because of the incredible R&O team.
This business began as an extension of Lauren Wilde. It is the culture and environment that she always imagined being a part of and it hosts the team she always dreamed of being on. Starting with the open concept floor plan, R&O welcomes you to let out a long breath as you settle into the scene of plants, rich wood, bright colours and vintage character. The main floor features our family of stylists (ranging from apprentice to master), and the upper lounge features a barbering station with that special vintage-barber touch.
The entire salon was built by those that work in it and our team continues to expand and become a stronger family. At the two week mark, I decided to call back (as I got no answer from them) and was welcomed by a rather unprofessional woman who was not able to answer the only question I asked. Instead, she decidedly just either grunted or asked "what" or "huh". Nevertheless, I'd stay away from a company who doesn't follow through and had such poor communicators as customer service reps.

I had a consultation first to express my needs and ask questions. My consultation was with Simme and Lauren (a color educator). I booked my first appointment, and I must say I had an absolutely wonderful experience. The color turned out exactly what I asked for. Simme took her time and ensured every last little strand of hair was done. She took before and after photos and created a file for me stating that if anything goes sideways, she will happily fix it to my liking.
The atmosphere was extremely professional and comfortable. The prices are very flexible depending on what your needs are. I highly recommend you call for a consult if you are worried about pricing as they have so many stylists on different levels with options depending on your needs.
I will most definitely be booking a second appointment. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED :)

She was so knowledgeable and answered all my questions and really listened. End result was perfect. She created a very soft, radiant and natural highlight to my hair. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Brent is a fantastic guy and a hair wizard. I got the Hairskeen system put in just under 2 weeks ago and it was one of the best decisions I've made in a while. He gets the emotional part of the procedure as he has first hand experience which made this all the more pleasant of an experience. After we had our consultation, I knew he was the right stylist for me. He primarily operates out of the Edmonton area but does work in Calgary too so that was a huge bonus for me.
