About Robin Hood Association- Fort Saskatchewan Learning Centre

Our Mission

The Robin Hood Association is committed to excellence in assisting individuals with disabilities to achieve their personal best and experience a quality lifestyle.

Our Vision

To inspire people to build belonging communities one good day at a time.

Who We Are

Formed in 1963, Robin Hood Association is a non-profit, registered, charitable organization dedicated to providing high quality and innovative services to children and adults with developmental disabilities.

We are the primary provider of services to children and adults with developmental disabilities in Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, and surrounding areas. Our organization is made up of families and friends of people with disabilities. We currently serve approximately 350 adults and 350 children and their families. An elected Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for our policies and planning.

Our services are delivered by a committed team of over 600 full- and part-time staff. Their compassion, dedication, and genuine care for the people we support is our organization's life force.

Volunteers also play a vital role in all aspects of our organization including participation on the Board, involvement in service delivery and engagement in fundraising initiatives and events.

We depend on the support of individuals, businesses and community groups to continue to deliver quality services to the people we serve.

Our History

RHA has a 57-year history of service excellence in supporting adults and children with disabilities. We are steadfast in our commitment to listen to the voices of the people we serve, and the parents and families who support them.

It was Colonel E.W. and Dr. Barbara Cormack's determination to create a better future for their son, George, that catalyzed the forming of RHA in 1963. The first project undertaken by the Association was the development of the Robin Hood School, which was originally located in a house in Sherwood Park serving 12 students. Our first major facility was constructed in 1968, and an adult vocational program began in 1974. The Robin Hood Association also opened its first community-based group home that year.

Over the past 57 years, our organization has grown exponentially. We began with a group of 12 students. Today we provide services to 700 children and adults. Over nearly 6 decades, we have adapted and innovated in order to meet the evolving needs of our community, and continue to strive to do so.

I do not like this company. My mother got kicked out of it in 2016 through no fault of her own and ever since then, almost every staff there wants little to do with me. I'm lucky if I get told about activities or cancellations thereof. I don't appreciate being discriminated against because of who I'm related to or who I live with. Awful, awful company.
