River Heights Child Care is a Reggio-Inspired Montessori program which incorporates STEAM focused exploration. Our unique curriculum provides children with opportunities to learn, have fun and feel their value in a safe and nurturing environment.
About River Heights Child Care
Our Education Team
Our beautiful preschool classrooms (ages 2 – 6 years) each have two Master Educators and two Child Care Assistants, who together provide an enhanced teacher-child ratio of 1:6 (compared to the 1:8 regulated by the Province of Manitoba). Our Master Educators in each room consist of the following expertise:
- Montessori Master Educator – specially trained Montessori educator who implements the Montessori curriculum
- Reggio Master Educator – who brings the Reggio Emilia Approach to ignite creativity and learning through play
Our Infant program (ages 3 months – 2 years) consists of one Master Educator and one Child Care Assistant – for a ratio of 1:2 (compared to the 1:4 regulated by the Province of Manitoba). Infants are regarded as capable and are respected in every aspect of their care and curriculum. Each infant is mastering skills at their own pace and has, in essence, each their own curriculum. The Master Educator carefully prepares the play space to develop physical, cognitive, social and emotional development, while fostering independence and meeting each child’s physical and emotional needs.

Our toddler learned how to line up, take turns, share and wash his hands all before speaking a full sentence! He surprises us every day with his independence - thank you so much!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My children attended here pre Covid. The staff was friendly and courteous, the children enjoyed their time here, but almost all of the staff has changed. The management took deposits on key fobs and when I returned them they never reimbursed as promised. I’ve left many messages and been in, but they are evasive and will not call back.

I have seen a huge improvement in my child's motor and cognitive development since moving them from home-based child care. My child really enjoys the variety of activities and the outdoor play time.
