★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gorgeous spot. It is a well hidden, small lock. However, the drive in is spectacular! You can see some wildlife (we saw a fawn). It is a very narrow road so people should drive carefully and slowly as the wildlife just come out of nowhere. Although on is own, there are sprinkling of cottages everywhere. Well worth the drive! Everyone should be careful of the wildlife there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don't expect any amenities, there's nothing here but a public washroom, not even cell service. It's quite remote, like 9 km off Hwy 15.
This is one of the quietest locks on the Rideau Canal (only about 40 boats a day, according to the lock operator we spoke to) and it's picturesque so it's a quick stop to see the Rideau Canal in operation.
If you're looking for ice cream cones or other treats, try Jones Falls or Chaffey's Lock

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very friendly staff. We were on a rented boat and stumbled upon the lockstation, and the staff was very patient with explaining how things work and to get the necessary pass. The staff was efficient in getting all the boats in position for the transition.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is probably the most isolated lock in the Rideau system. Yesterday's visit was very pleasant. Only a few boats were tied up and nobody locked through for over half an hour. The blockhouse is renovated as accommodation and available as a rental. Opportunity like this is rare. This is a spot where you can step back in time to the early 1800's. Soak in the history.
