Don't really know where to start. But what an experience this was! Amateur astronomer to experienced astronomer, this place really is for the nerds of all kinds. We came a bit early, so we got to tour everything before anyone else. First and foremost, the volunteers, staff and fellow astronomers there who preserve these two buildings were all wonderful, warm and kind. We weren't even part of their crew but they treated us like we were. Felt that was oddly thoughtful. They have a very small but spacious library that holds some very old astronomical books dating back to the 30's. On this night, we all got lucky to have clear skies! So we got to peer through the telescope, which was an awesome experience and worth trying at least once in your life (as they say, it's the largest observatory in Canada). We got to see M15, which is located in the northern constellation Pegasus. Down below, the staff had 8-12" telescopes which were stationed in front of the observatory. So we all got to see Mars, andromeda and many more. I highly recommend this visit even if you're not into astronomy.

As I live nearby it’s a regular walking spot. Love the observatory tower and the surrounding green space, offers nice views in all four seasons; the tower and the building recently renovated. Avoid walking by yourself and with small pets in darkness as there are coyotes in the woods. Park has a few benches also.

Its a great place to experience the astronomy. This place is regional centre for education and public outreach related to astronomy. Lectures and family tours are available time by time. Just check out their website. The building is very pretty and old. The surrounding is spacious and parking is free and abundant.

If you're interested in science, this place gave me chills. The observatory where humans first confirmed the existence of a black hole; where humans first measured the size of the Milky Way. Second largest telescope in the World when opened. The library features journal collections from 1896 and earlier!

Visited the ylab maker space once again, this time for a tool sharpening workshop. Nice to find out all of the work that's being put in to the upkeep of the DDO property. It's a treasure, especially for those with the knack for curiosity!

Not only is the observatory impressive, learning the history of the Dunlap family and their generousity is very humbling. I am privileged to be one of the family friends of the Dunlap family.

We were able to take part in the family astrology night in which we were able to learn quite a bit about space and the observation facility and able to see through the telescope!
