Richard Feehan MLA - Edmonton
Richard Feehan is dedicated to making communities better, and has proudly represented Edmonton-Rutherford as MLA since 2015. He also serves as the NDP Critic for Indigenous Affairs.
As the former Minister of Indigenous Relations, Richard fought to make life better for Indigenous peoples in Alberta. He demonstrated his commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, working with Alberta’s Indigenous communities to begin fulfilling the United Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Prior to his time as MLA, Richard dedicated himself to the field of social work. He served as Program Director of the Edmonton Social Planning Council and the Vice-President of Edmonton's Catholic Social Services before teaching with the Edmonton branch of the University of Calgary's Faculty of Social Work. He also spent over a decade in private social work practice.
Richard holds a Masters of social work from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Bachelor of social work from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta.
Richard was born and raised in Edmonton and he lives in the south side with his wife and three children.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It would be nice if they had a sign saying that they weren't open during regular hours. I have now been twice and both times they were closed. The first time was because, for some odd reason, his office wasn't open normal hours, and the second it just wasn't open during the hours printed on the sign. Quite disappointing that you can't access your provincial representatives.

He is smart without being patronizing. He is powerful without being arrogant.
We can only hope that our elected officials have half the integrity that Richard Feehan has.

I am not even his constituent and he reached out to me twice after he was made aware of a problem I had. Very few politicians would do that. He also shows up at most events and does not seek the spotlight like some MLAs do. I have much respect for him.
