About Red Deer Outreach Centre (formerly Central Alberta Women's Outreach Society)

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

WE RESPOND TO OUR COMMUNITY’S NEEDS by providing solutions that are integrated, sustainable and responsive. We recognize the impact that our Four Pillars has on our community as a whole and on the individuals and organizations that make up our community.

WE WORK TOGETHER as individuals and organizations to address our Four Pillars in our community. We leverage existing mandates, authorities and accountabilities through commitment, innovation and creativity. We contribute our skills, knowledge, experience and resources to achieve collective results.

WE ENGAGE PARTNERS in all levels of government, the non-profit sector, the philanthropic community, the academic community, the private sector, and our target populations, helping to design and deliver the best possible programming aligning with our Four Pillars.

WE ARE EFFECTIVE and base our decisions and our actions on evidence and best practices that are most likely to achieve our Mission and Vision. We respect the processes needed for action but focus on getting timely and sustainable results. We work together to ensure that time, effort and funds are well spent and that our results have a positive impact.

WE PROVIDE LEADERSHIP by using action, resources and work hard to drive the community’s commitment. We stay informed and contribute to the body of knowledge addressing our Four Pillars. We learn from others and share our own information and best practices.

WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE to our community for our actions and results. We build trust in each other and collectively build the community’s trust in us. We are always ethical, honest and respectful.

I thought this was a place to heal from trama of abuse not to get more emotional damage from staff. I wouldn't recommend it. The staff could careless and they really do.

I have a friend who has to wait 6 to 8 weeks for help while if your name is Sarah W. (who is lying through her teeth) you get a lawyer the same week and Shae goes to the court house with you.

They dont seem to help anyone really anymore. A few years ago i was offered much more help. This time around i got treated like dirt . got told to stay at the mats program or the mustard seed shelter. Don't even get bothered of getting told about the womans shelter.you think this plave would offer support if you were in a abusive relationship, are homeless and broken. Nope. Had to fend for myself.

Very informative, caring, non-judgmental and helpful to both sexes and their families. Their groups are incredible!! I've already taken their domestic violence 16 hour group, and am now enrolled in their boundaries group for Sept. /2017. It is very hard emotional work, but believe me it's worth it!!! (: We cried together, laughed together, and shared our stories in a very safe place. They also provide a safe space for children to be, while their parent's are participating in a group etc. Take that first step and reach out for their help!!! You won't regret it!! Sincerely, TAC

The clinical caseworker seemed to be really invested and the victim had some hope. Caseworker spoke of reaching out to specific people and agencies to try to assist. Victim had a glimmer of hope for the first time in more than seven years. Then, the long weekend came. The caseworker (Jaclyn) forgot everything she said she would do When the victim hadnโ€™t heard from her and reached out, the response started with, โ€œIโ€™m really not sure what else to do.โ€ Um, maybe do what you told the victim you would do the week before would be my suggestion. Splat - the hope was dead. If youโ€™re being abused in Red Deer, this is not a place to seek help. You will only feel worse. Go to Edmonton or Calgary for help. Go to Starbucks and talk with a barista - at least theyโ€™ll remain invested until they get a tip. This place is a complete waste of taxpayer funds and the caseworker reneging on what she said she would do has only exacerbated the level of desperation that the victim feels.

Absolutely horrible experience. The staff are uninformed and unprepared to actually deal with a crisis. I will never support this place again
