Rude and unprofessional. Avoid

It's telling that this organization is hiring for new people daily. Just an absolute mess. They haven't a clue on how to properly run an efficient/successful business... and then there's the field staff. Awful. Just awful.

I had a Worker Edna Oconnor RECONNECT,?who literally drives me crazy-lol He just asked me to remove what I said. He has no right in doing that. He called the Police on me, instead of the Anbulance, and I was threatened by the cop that he was going to beat me up if I didn’t go. I just said I didn’t want to go. He said he was going to beat me up. There’s been nothing but stress from this Agency. I would say go elsewhere!! I was sick because of him for days,!and after that incident , he can’t come by and see me for 5 days!! He’s cancelled on me saying he had a Hospital incident. What about me? I’m missing my Drs because of him, and I sure don’t want him talking to my Dr! The trust is gone, and he’s thrown me into more depression. Once, 7 days is a joke!! I don’t want anything to do with reconnect. I asked him to take me to thebHospital; not call verbal threats from a Cop!! I am so Angry about this whole Reconnect Nightmare!!

I just want to start off by saying that the Staff at Reconnect at the Algie St. location are absolutely amazing! I was a resident at the house for roughly a month and everything about the house was incredible! I did not expect the house to be as comfortable as it was upon entering. I walked in and was given a tour and I almost teared up because I felt so grateful. I had a bedroom to myself that was very well put together, warm, clean and had a very comfortable bed. There are multiple showers all over the house that are even handicap friendly. The house also never runs out of hot water! There are computers for the clients to access the internet as well as a very comfortable area to sit and watch TV as well to get to know the other clients in the house. The food in the house was also absolutely amazing. There are fresh very high quality food brought in everyday catering style and each and everyday we were surprised with an amazing meal. In addition, there was plenty of fresh, raw ingredients available for the chance to get comfortable in a kitchen again and learn to cook for ourselves. The house seemed to be set up in a way that us clients, learn to once again take care of ourselves in a home environment. The staff are all so friendly and they always make themselves available to the clients to assist them in whatever needs or resources they need to start moving forward. The amount of resources and community programs that Reconnect staff help you access is truly amazing. I came to the house post incarceration and never expected to get on my feet as fast as I did. It was a daily struggle but I was constantly being motivated by both clients and staff in the house to meet daily and weekly goals. EVERY STAFF MEMBER IN THE HOUSE ARE AMAZING ! I can only imagine how tough it is for the staff to deal with us clients some times and the amount of guidance and understanding that is shown is something really special. Thank you KAREN for keeping the house in amazing order and constantly being on top of everything. You are always looking for ways to improve the house and our stay. You seem to always keep everyone grounded and the other staff really on their toes. I will never forget the talk we had and how you always helped me. I hope to see you again one day. David Haase

This organization unfortunately has hired some caregivers with zero compassion for the elderly. My father in law (living in the senior building on Vaughn Rd) supposed to get a shower once a week (not even a lot to begin with), and they have skipped out on giving him one now 2 weeks in a row, and on other weeks in the past. They are inconsistent with times, don't let their patients know when they are "scheduled", and just poor communication.

Can't rate the entire organization as they seem to cover other areas but as far as the personal care/support my father is supposed to be receiving, the workers do not care about helping the elderly. It's just a job to them, they punch in, punch out, get paid by the hour and go home. I do not recommend receiving personal care from this company.

In the past 2 years, Enda and Dr Ken have been my main contacts at Reconnect. They have been absolutely wonderful. They have gone above and beyond anyone else in their personal contact with our son (MH) and with me and my husband. Our experience with Reconnect in Etobicoke goes back more than 5 years. In the earliest experience with Reconnect, Lisa Norton found MH living on the street and took him under her wing as his caseworker. She is the only woman in the profession who has been able to make a difference with him. The fault for that lies squarely in MH’s psyche. But Lisa was able to overcome his deficiency to help him. It is unfortunate that MH becomes hostile in his paranoia meeting new professionals. His attacks are verbal, but incredibly accurate. He criticizes their colour, race, religion, sexual preferences, gender or whatever he guesses might be offensive to them. As his mother, it is incredibly embarrassing to me. But, I am now beginning to recognize that group meetings such as doctor, caseworker, parents and nurse are threatening to him. I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the other professionals I have met at Reconnect. There is a long list of people who refuse to work with a patient who is not grateful for the help or is not compliant with directions. Since most people with schizophrenia slip off their compliance, it is immensely disappointing to me that professionals refuse to work with him. Thank you so much to those who are.

Ladies and gentlemen, having mental health or working with persons with mental health isn't easy. I'm a social work by profession and I've seen the challenges that having mental health can have on a person, their loved ones, society and organizations such as Reconnect. I have a loved one under their care and although things aren't always perfect, my loved one and I have always been treated with dignity and respect. For those quick to rate any mental health organization poorly, keep in mind, the burnout rate is high when working with mental health. I have a strong appreciation and respect for those willing to step up to the plate and support other individuals with their mental health.
