Unfortunately I would have to agree with the recent reviews that indicate that the customer service at RBC Direct Investing is awful. I put in a request to transfer in an account from another financial institution at the beginning of March, (writing this in late April). A number of investments came through okay, but 2 remained. I spoke to someone who advised me they would take care of it and did not. I called again, waited on hold for 20 minutes only to be cut off. I called back, waited another 30 minutes, got someone else who was helpful and indicated that she would get her manager to call me. The manager did call the next morning, assured me she would take care of it and gave me her direct number to follow up. Still nothing happened so I called her 3 times and left voice messages. That was about 3 weeks ago. She did not have the courtesy to call me back and just ignored my messages. I sent a secure message and someone got back to me to indicate that they would handle it, but that was over 10 days ago. I sent a follow up message asking for an update but it remains unanswered after 3 days, even though they indicate 2 business day response, (which is also too long). Still nothing, no communication, no results. I am very frustrated with them but since I have my business with them I will tough it out. Their customer service is a mess and needs some serious attention. If you are looking for an investment service, I would suggest you move on to someone else.

I have been trying for almost six months to make a LIRA transfer within RBC. Nothing but hassle! Emails constantly telling me to call them, then sit on hold for hours only to find out they could have called me to work out a issue in 30 seconds. My time is definitely not on their priority list. Pulling everything from RBC as they do not care about their customers.

Lousy customer service.. for opening DI account waiting for over a month with no satisfactory response. You seem to be just helpless waiting. Losing money waiting for them while they mint.. shame and unprofessional organization. No accountability

An unacceptable level of customer service. In many ways, it is so awful that it is beyond description. Trying to help an elderly relative get into his account (that for no apparent reason was deactivated), spent an hour and a half on the phone! Got the run around- put on hold, they tell you to call one number then the people there tell you to call another and it goes on and on. Pathetic customer service for one of the largest banks in Canada. Based on the other reviews here, I see my complaints are in good company.

Different staff give different advice on the same topics. I've been trying to open separate RESPs for each of my kids since January and have yet to see these accounts open. Bad advice had me in a joint family RESP and it has been a disaster trying to have specific contributions allocated appropriately. My suggestion is not to rely on the advice of these agents. Inform yourself first to the best of your ability. There is a serious need for consistency in training at Direct Investing.

Worst customer service I've ever seen. Tharsca Siva, Client Care Officer, told me after a month of waiting for an account to be opened that it wasn't there fault and there was nothing she could do... come to find out if you find the right person tat DI the problem can eventually be resolved if you find someone who actually has empathy.

Horrible customer service from a third party company hired by RBC. I applied to open an account and sent all the documents, yet every time they told me they could not verify who I was. Being frustrated after many weeks of wasting precious time I gave up and cancelled my application. Also, when you call you have to wait very long time before they answer the phone, it has been like this since 2000 when I first opened an account and closed it after a couple of years. No improvement at all since then. Same horrible customer service.

Terrible customer service - called in response to a letter sent to me asking for some account information, redirected in 2 different directions to marketing of services which I am not interested in and they cant fwd me back to the actual RBC direct Investing line. No way to by pass the re-directs , WHAT A SCAM. I'm leaving the banks in favor of the credit unions who are much easier to deal with.
