Family cottages on an island at Deception Lake since 1959, we are definitely considered off-grid. Tried of buying gas for the generator to operate 2 cottages, we decided to look into Solar power.
After the first call to the Kenora store we were put through to a gentleman named Matt out in Nova Scotia, he was working remotely. He spent a lot of time explaining and planning a solar system to fit our needs. He was awesome to deal with as well.
From there, the system was built for a DIY install due to Covid. This install was done by our family, very easy DIY instructions. At my request, owner Ray and his tech came out to check the work that we did putting my mind at ease.
We now run a DC fridge (24/7) replacing the propane model which we used to turn off at the end of each weekend. My generator is now linked to the system in the event the batteries go too low. This makes our cottages completely self sufficient. The system is super easy for my kids to use when I'm not there, which is a bonus. Ray is extremely knowledgeable and was always there when we had questions. In my opinion his customer service is second to none and is what stands him far above the rest of the companies out there. It's really nice after all these years to have all the comforts of home and to know if I have any issues at all in the future, I can count on Ray. No more hauling tons of gas and food every weekend... Thanks Ray great job!!!

Ray and his technicians assessed my system and proposed solutions that have totally transformed my electrical capabilities at my cottage , all within a very reasonable capital outlay.
The work was done on time and by very well trained servicemen.
I most certainly highly recommend them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I wanted to add two solar panels to my existing system and Ray solar provided a thoroughly costed detailed estimate which I readily agreed to.
As the project involved integrating different panels, which is more challenging, Ray himself attended with two colleagues on the installation date and I am extremely pleased with the result. They are true professionals and the physical integration and resulting extra power for my battery array was completed flawlessly. I would highly recommend Ray solar to anyone contemplating solar power. I should have mentioned that Ray solar installed my original system 6 years ago.

The after completion service was excellent as well responding to a small issue after hours to ensure that the system was operating properly.
I would recommend Raysolar for your solar needs!

Ray, owner, was more than willing to allow me to help with the installation, from thorough explanation on what needed to be done and how. The job was completed in a professional and extremely friendly manner, would recommend Ray and his team to anyone looking to improve on or start a new solar system!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were looking for a medium-sized, off-grid solar system to power our yurt. Ray helped us find what we needed, helped us stay within our budget, and was fine with us asking A LOT of questions. He got back to us promptly and was a great help. When we wanted to build our own frame and install the system ourselves, he was very accomodating and helped us out when we were overwhelmed by the wiring.
Amazing service. After two years we are still thrilled with the solar system. We are planning to build a more permanent home and will definitely go back to Ray Solar for our next solar system.
