Prestige Auto Repairs

I went to this garage because it was advertised that they complete safety certificates for out-of-province vehicles and it was next to the Drive Test centre. After looking at my car for less than 15 minutes, the mechanic there (I think may be the owner) told me that he can't certify my car because there was a leak in the oil pan. I asked him if there's anything else that needs to be fixed to pass the inspection and he said no. So I asked him to show me the leak because I didn't see any drips in my driveway before heading to the garage. After lifting my car up, he pointed out the seepage around the oil pan and said that needs to be repaired for $320 plus the $90 safety certificate charge! We agreed that we didnt see any droplets nor did any fluids leaked onto the floor. It's a '06 Corolla so of course there would be some seepage from regular use. I asked him why it's $320 but he gave me no clear answers. I said that the cost is not reasonable because it's just draining the engine oil, remove the pan, replace the gasket, and refill with new oil. Saying so got him really defensive and he sharply and repeatedly told me not to question his job. I WOULD NOT QUESTION YOU IF YOU ARE MORE HONEST ABOUT WHY I NEEDED THIS REPAIR AND THE HIGH COST YOU QUOTED ME. I told him to release my car because I don't trust him at this point and his shady explanations. When I later got home and looked into the average cost for repairing oil pans and it turns out that $300 was on the extreme high side! What made me really angry to write this review was that when I read the Ontario's vehicle safety inspection checklist online, engine oil leaks were not even covered! The closest section that relates to engine oil was in Engine / Transmission Mount where it said that Type 2 leak will fail. They even specify the types of leaks. Type 2 leak is defined as forming droplets which we did not see in his garage! I ALMOST GOT SCAMMED BY THIS DISHONEST GARAGE SHOP! I got my safety certificate the next day from another garage and the mechanic there told me that there were no issues with my car.

The best Auto repair shop in whole of Halton and Peel. Truly professional, goes over and beyond to ensure you are satisfied. I was there to replace my Brakes and Rotors. I took quote for at least 7 different repair shops in Halton and Peel region. Gave me the best price for the same part and labor and did checkup for full car to ensure there is nothing else that i would need. I am glad that i met him. This repair shop is the best there is! I worked with the mechanic, Rob I believe was his name, for years and years and have taken my cars to him wherever he is. He opened this shop and I'm so happy because his work is the most honest, reliable, and detail oriented work anyone can find. i went in here when i was visiting canada my car broke down and I was so worried about going to a random mechanic shop but i was lucky to meet Rob. he helped me out so much with the cost and had everything ready in one day. my check engine light turned off and he even fixed another issue that he didn’t charge me for. everything was explained to me and i am so happy! recommend this place great work.
