★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We popped into Portage Park during a rainstorm to get a leg stretch and find some geocaches. It is a lovely community park and we do miss when we lived a few blocks away.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Flanked by the historic E&N railroad on the east side and the Pacific Ocean on the west, there is a well groomed trail running through Portage Park. The park is about 500m long, It's not too busy and there is a good gravel beach with a nice view.

Portage Park has multiple ways for you to enter the park— and no matter which entrance you take, you’ll find yourself surrounded by trees, native plants, birds, and more. There’s a huge playground for the kiddos, as well as a magnificent beach which you can set up for the day, as it has tons of sun but also large trees at the edge of the beach for shade, as well as shallow waters which is great for kids to explore!
