Play It Forward Sports Therapy provides professional Athletic Therapy services to the Fernie and Calgary sports communities. Certified Athletic Therapists are highly trained professionals, who received over 1200 hours of clinical and field experience in musculoskeletal injuries. Therefore, a Certified Athletic Therapist will provide excellent provision of on-field immediate care of athletic injuries, including musculoskeletal injury assessment, basic emergency life support, recognition and management of acture traumatic neurological dysfunction, provision of first aid and preparation for entrance into appropriate health care delivery systems, or where appropriate utilization of techniques fascilitating a safe return to participation.

What services are included?
Medical event coverage includes the provision of on-field immediate care of athletic injuries by a Certified Athletic Therapist, including:
• Primary assessment and care of injured athlete(s)
• First Aid treatment
• Initial recommendations on athletic post-injury participation status
• Recognition and management of acture traumatic neurological dysfunction
• Concussion assessments & testing
• Prophylactic taping
• Equipment fitting and adjustment
• Advice on entry into further levels of health care delivery system

Our Certified Athletic Therapists provided are in good standing with the Canadian Athletic Therapists’ Association (CATA) and carry valid Emergency Medical Responder and CPR-HCP certification. In addition, Play It Forward Sports Therapy shall insure each of its employees carries valid Professional Liability Insurance.

What types of events are recommended to have professional medical coverage?
All amateur and/or professional sporting events are recommended to have professional first aid coverage, especially those of high impact, i.e. mountain biking, snowboarding, freestyle skiing, rugby, football, etc.
