★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Real neat spot to sit and watch or picnic or walk around. We came after Labour Day so the visitor center was closed. The bathrooms were open at the top of the locks which was great. Not a lot of boats coming through but saw the lock transfer twice in the 1.5 hr we were there. The operator at the top end was very engaged and came out to explain how it works and had some stuff for the kids which certainly enhanced the experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one of 8 lift locks in the world, so it's a must see if you live in Ontario! If you really want to experience the locks, try renting a canoe like I did, or doing a local cruise coz who doesn't wanna go up & down 60 feet lol. More so, it's an engineering feat (being an engineer myself) & a good way to learn & teach your kids about some basic hydraulics in action! The park staff does a phenomenal job of explaining how the lock works, as well as keeping you entertained. Make sure you visit when the museum is open!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Boated through with my own 18 ft once and with a rented houseboat years later . Going south , if you are at the very front of the "tank" , you look over that 60 ft drop in elevation , and hope the front gate is latched real well ! Amazing structure !
