Brett & Karen Chestley are the proud owners of Pete’s Grand Putt, both live full time in Winnipeg, but spend their summers at their family cabin in Grand Beach.  Brett’s Poppa, Jack Velpel was known in the community as “The Merry Go Round Man”, as he managed the old Grand Beach Carousel in the Grand Ol’ Days. The same cabin Jack built is now the cabin owned by Brett & Karen.  After purchasing the cabin from Brett’s parents in 2017, the couple and their two daughters, Addison & Zoey began spending their summers at the lake, they made some incredible friends, and fell in love with the beach community.  After a party at the Community Centre, an inflatable flamingo took up residence in the cabin, and soon became the unofficial cabin mascot of the Chestley’s, they affectionally named him “Pete”.   Summers at the cabin come with a fair bit of walking, and often those walks would take Brett & Karen by the old Mini Putt, a place where Brett played countless rounds of golf as a child.  In 2018, Brett said out loud for the first time “someone needs to bring this place back” and once those words were said aloud, they took on a life of their own.  Every person in the community that heard even a whisper of this half baked idea, jumped at it with enthusiasm.  In 2020, this idea stopped being a dream, and become a reality.  Brett & Karen may own Pete’s, but it is very much intended to belong to the community, they want kids, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, step parents, etc to enjoy warm summer days playing mini golf, and create new memories like the ones cherished by those who played there before.   Everyone is welcome at Pete’s.

Good mini-golf course. Very much themed after the surrounding area there. Neat handmade course.

Such a fabulous time with the family. This mini golf is homemade and SO well taken care of. You can get some snacks and t-shirts too.

What a blast! We had a great time. The course was well laid out, the staff friendly and helpful, we were pleasantly surprised to find it is licensed with craft beer options. Will go again! Highly recommend for all ages.

After over 10 years, new owners have reopened the course this season and I must say that the course has been excellently rejuvenated with lots of locally made art representing nearby locations. They have 10 round passes & are licensed selling local (Winnipeg) beer. Well worth a visit.
