Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital

My daughter was here for surgery today and I do not recommend this hospital. This was her 3rd surgery this year so we’re not new to process. We drove 3 hours to the hospital this morning for her surgery only to get there and the nurse said that I could not even wait in the hospital during her surgery that I could “go to the mall or go park in the parking lot across the road”. Why on earth would I go to the mall while my child is in surgery? I sat in the parking lot for an additional 3 hours during her surgery. Then the same nurse called to say she was done and in recovery, she would give my daughter the discharge instructions and call me when she’s ready to go. I asked for them to call me so I could hear the discharge instructions since she’s only 14 and coming off of anesthestic and wouldn’t remember anything. The nurse said we’re really busy up here but she would see if I could come up for a minute to get the instructions. More time passed and finally she calls back and said she was discharged and I was to go get a wheelchair and go upstairs to pick her up. That was it. No instructions other than a piece of paper. My daughter said afterwards that she was so scared going in on her own that she was crying in the bathroom while they forced an unwanted and unneeded additional test on her. Never again will we be back. On the plus side emerg was empty so I guess if you have no other options you shouldn’t have to wait forever in emerg. I highly recommend Kingston general or Hotel Dieu. They go above and beyond and have respect for their patients and families.

Went there today for a medical reason, had to go to emergency. The staffs, nurses and doctors were great. They took great care in terms of examining and providing comfort. God bless you all.

Gf and I waited 5 hours for results from a test all we were told what was taking so long was they are trying to save a life. They need more staff. A select few for emergency and atleast 1 for lessened emergency

Building is run down and poorly laid out. Nurses preach getting vaccinated but don't wear gloves. This is the saddest excuse for a medical facility I have ever entered. ER department is TINY. If you need medical assistance drive to Ottawa. You may wait longer in Ottawa but you will 100% receive better care.

I appreciate the help here when needed .. but my last experience here when I was hospitalized that a certain Dr. Tried to push something on me when I disagreed plus I had major surgery and we had words and when her shift ended she didn't take my certain well being in to consideration and just left without subscribing me a certain pain relief medication ... Thankgod a caring nurse went to the emerge Dr. On call and asked if he would come up to see me and I let him know my situation and of course he looked over my records etc.. and gave me the pain relief that I needed to atleast be able to sleep in comfort ... . I really appreciate that emergency Dr. Was on call that night and took the few minutes and took my situation into context and cared enough for the person a k.a myself .. thankyou Dr...

I do not know yet the level of care my mom will receive overall but the triage nurse was so condescending to us upon entry that I wanted to turn and walk out. She made it very clear that she was not interested in anything I had to say pertaining to my mother's symptoms which I have been monitoring for several days. Now my mom is in there and I am kicked to the car because I do not meet the requirements of entry to the building. My car is more comfortable anyway but to not be heard or respected hurts. I do love SF but you need to upgrade your hospital services!

Gave birth at this hospital a few weeks ago. Dr Kerner and Dr Wang are amazing doctors and so amazing to me. The nurses on the maternity ward went above and beyond, I cannot say enough great things about my experience and this hospital. I would highly recommend them as your obgyn, you will not be disappointed with that choice.

Really bad experienced,I drove my daughter today because she had high fever,tummy pain and vomiting. Antigen test first test shows covid positive.Waited for over about 3 hours and I noticed that 3 people who behind us was treated first.I feel sorry for my daughter puking in the corner while people behind us was treated first.I took my daughter back home untreated because she already complaining of long waits.. Just to say thank-you to the lady staff in that hospital who helped me to get out from the parking lot.I didn't know they have 4 dollars charge for parking,was panicked to drive there without bringing cash with me that was lessen my disappointments.
