About Pedalheads Bike Camps Inc.

In 1986, Claudia Sjoberg started one swim program (formerly Atlantis) in one pool for a handful of kids. She came up with innovative ways to teach skills and concepts. There never was a shortage of fun and the kids gained confidence and a passion to be active.

When we first decided to enroll in Pedal Heads every outing and attempt to ride without training wheels was a fight, after one week with Sarah O our daughter is riding on two wheels and shows so much confidence in herself, simply amazing!

Bad bad bad. I can't say how much frustration I had with the organizing event. No clear instruction. One day say you need this form. Another day say you need to do another thing. And then no communication of what they need. Never experience something that you pick up your kid and need to give your order #. Even we give our name, and wait for 15 minutes to do a simple thing: pick up the kid. Bike teacher attitude is very unfriendly. Not polite.

Had both of my kids enrolled in the camp. Logistically very organized and safe. Both kids learned lots (one of whom went from zero confidence, only used a strider occasionally, to full on start/stop, steering, etc within 1 day)! Will bring the kids again next summer! Thanks Pedalheads!

My son just finished a week of full-day Level 1 bike camp with Trent as his instructor. Trent was such a wonderful coach, he helped my son build his confidence, he was patient, kind and always had helpful feedback for me at the end of the day! I would absolutely recommend Trent and Pedal Heads, and we hope to see him for Level 2! - Steph

Disappointed when you didn’t evaluate my child properly. Plus we enrolled in a level 2 and you put him with level 1. We chatted with the site supervisor stating he should’ve been a level 3 but you guys failed to move him earlier on. Then on the last day he was placed with a level 3 trail ride and he was very upset as he didn’t get to experience the last day with his friends all week. Instructor didn’t even know he was in level two and thought he was in one, and your customer support line did nothing for us. The customer support lady chuckled when I told her that he came home upset and this is the level of experience you guys pride yourself on for a 5 year old. We spent good money on this course and this is our third session with you guys and you failed to deliver. Was told that we would get likely a credit for next year, private lessons if we reach out to customer support which was not offered and denied. Not sure if you will get our other 2 younger kids in your program. Don’t chalk it off to miscommunication as that is you guys and not us.

Had my daughter in a level 1 half day camp to hopefully get her training wheels off. The first couple days were amazing and she had a really kind, encouraging, and energetic instructor named Bjorn. He gave great feedback, took her training wheels off on day 2, and said she would be biking independently by the end of the week. Unfortunately, he was replaced after the second day and the person teaching instead of him was just not of the same caliber. Day 3 and 4 I noticed no skills improvement, all the kids in her group were still being ridden around with a hand on the back and handlebars. At the end of day 4 I observed that zero of the kids in this group were ridding independently and every single kid in a neighbouring level 1 group was riding circles around the parking lot. I know every kid is different, but it doesn’t seem like a coincidence that all the kids in one group are succeeding and all the kids in another are not. For the hefty price of this camp, I think the instructors should all have the same ability to help kids succeed. I would not enrol one of my kids in this again and would not recommend. If you get a great instructor, it could be a great program. But be warned that if you get a dud, it’s a week wasted and you’ll just have to enrol again and hope to get a better one.

Last year I registered my child in pedal heads however there was a heat wave and it was far too hot to be outside for any length of time. They would not give me a credit or or reschedule her for another time. To me this is unacceptable.

I had enrolled my son in the balance bikers camp hoping they he would improve on skills such as balance, coordination, stopping skills and body placement up and down small hills (as noted in the website description of the course). Unfortunately, this was not what was taught in the course. It was basically the kids riding bike and forth on level ground. I was told by the instructor and manager that these were the learning outcomes. Had I known these were the learning outcomes, I would not have enrolled my toddler. I think the learning outcomes (the report card) should be clearly stated on the website. My child did not learn any new skills. I was also hoping for traffic safety and riding pathway etiquette. This was also not taught other than playing red light, green light on a level surface. I would have preferred him in a pedal class but the minimum age requirement is 4. I think there should be a reconsideration of this minimum age requirement as balance bikers have lowered this age. Overall, I think the course itself was not challenging or informative enough for my child to learn anything new and would not be recommending it to other parents.
