Place visited on January 13, 2019. A nice park that seems to be maintained by a local citizen committee. It is also the access to the Mont Sombre trail. A beautiful loop that passes by the mountain of the same name as well as by the shore of Lac Sombre. The trail is very well marked.

Very nice park located near the lake. There are game modules for children in addition to access to the Dark Mountain. The park is also very interesting in winter with the creation of a free ice rink and all public. There is also a tennis court nearby which requires an annual subscription.

Mont Sombre trail, the loop. Choice of two trails at the lake, feet dry or wet (really wet). Choice of ascent with a gentle or steeper slope.

Lovely and well maintained rest area with trailheads to gorgeous hiking trails, a clean toilet and other amenities, sheltered picnic area etc. Great staging area for preparing off-road trips to nearby trails.

Very quiet place for a fun hike. Parking area with washrooms and covered picnic tables at the trailhead. Trail is approximately a 6.5km loop. Nice viewpoints at top of mountain especially when there aren't any leaves. Be aware there is a few very swampy areas on the trail along the edge of lac Sombre (likely beaver dams have caused some flooding is my guess as this summer is very dry...) so recommend wearing a good pair of hiking boots instead of shoes.

The park is open in winter and summer. The base includes a hockey rink, a soccer field with goals, a playground for children, a service building and a covered cloakroom with benches. The center is open to the public and is the starting point for the Mont Sombre mountain. The distance is 1.2 km. The loop along the Dark Mountains trail is longer and amounts to 5.9 km. Guaranteed views. For those who choose the lowlands, the charms of Lac Croche Lake will be interesting. We can also use the ice rink, if it is not occupied by hockey players.
