I am in an 8-story apartment building in the West End of Vancouver. We have a single elevator, which has been out of service since about July 24. (That is, we have had no elevator for over a month now.) Our building manager has been unable to get any news from Otis. Initially, we were told it would take about a week to fix it. Then another week. Then Otis said they would come on Monday, and simply didn't show up for a week. They evidently don't work on Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays. here are elderly people in the building who are missing their doctor's appointments, and who don't like being unable to go out for over a month. I have phoned Otis Canada a few times, but have never been able to get any information. My wife has cancelled 8 physiotherapy appointments. (so far!) Now the long weekend is coming up (Labour Day), people would like to move out. One person wanted to move out 2 weeks ago. He can't, because there's no elevator. I find it extremely odd that Otis will not work for double or triple overtime or whatever. I have sent the main office (not the Vancouver office) 3 emails, which they cannot be bothered to acknowledge, it seems; there is not even an automated reply. I phoned the Vancouver office just now - put on hold, and then transferred to a different number, which didn't answer. I phoned the Vancouver office again, and there was no answer. We have had no information at all from Otis for about 2 weeks now. It's incredible, really - there are about 60 apartments in this building, and no one knows when the elevator will be repaired, or even if it will be repaired ever.

Absolutely Horrible company, they held our strata for ransom when they lost the contract to replace our elevators because they were 1M dollars higher priced and literally shut down our tower. sick people could not get ambulances to care for them and the firemen had to go up 38 stores to try and get to them. Clearly the almighty dollar is the only thing that drives this company. Their stuff is proprietary and they wont let anyone else service the elevator programming, give me a break. Welcome to the 21st century Otis ownership, Too Big, Too Fat, old guys in leadership not aware of how this could play for them online we have a voice!!! I hear Richmond elevator is eating them alive with customer service and fair pricing. Merry Christmas to the ownership. Start thinking about being good stewards to your customers because client experience is real now and will hurt your business for years to come. Governors Tower and Villas in Yale town

Literally the worst service ever! I was stuck in an elevator with my 2 children (3 years old and 9 months). When I pressed the call button right away they told me someone would be there to help me right away. 45 minutes later I called again and they told me that someone was on their way and should be there soon. An hour later I was still stuck in the elevator with my 2 small children and had to call the fire department to come and help me. I happened to walk by our front door later and FINALLY saw OTIS come.... 2 HOURS AFTER I CALLED! I'm sorry but what urgency did they have? Absolutely ridiculous.

If I could give zero stars I would. It's been over 1 month at our building, and still no "fixes" or even a response on when they will be here to fix our elevator. In this heat, it's been that much more difficult to go up and down the stairs, and on top of that, we have elderly folks living in our building. I would avoid this company at all costs!!!

Stuck in elevator and they never did anything. Our building manager took over and made she we were safe not Otis. Call the number in the elevator and still nothing done by them. Good things have a access to very good lawyers. Don't worry the records from our condo and fire department will be enough. Word of advice to people, pick any other company besides Otis as they can't do worse than Otis. This post was done as I'm stuck in the elevator waiting for help.

If your a developer and looking for elevators then do not look here they are the worst elevators imaginable. first it broke down for 4 months while they "waited on a part" then was up for a month and broke down for a week that was fixed and fast forward 2 months it broke down this week for 3 days they came out and fix it and now 2 days later it's now broken again......I don't know how this is possible in a 6 year old building. They never show up to fix it when they say there going too and the people they do send don't look or act professional in and way. and reading all the past reviews in not sure how this company is still in business. SO BUYERS BEWARE DO NOT BUY FROM OTIS!!!! I've lived in apartments for over 10 years and never had any issues until I moved here and now in a year 4 times it's been broken in one building and even more if u include the other buildings in the complex.

Excellent company to work for and to have service your elevator. They will do it as fast as possible pull guys from other jobs to get things fixed. There’s only so many guys able to get all down elevators running.

Serious reliability issues. Elevator installed in a 6 year old building broke down with no spare parts in stock. After 2 months repair was completed to only break down again in 2 months. Is this company running a scam?
