Okotoks Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a performance-based martial art. You will achieve your belt promotion based on your skill level and commitment. There are no testing fees or belt fees to show that you can memorize techniques and defeat imaginary opponents. You will earn your rank rather than buy it.

Our focus is to introduce and establish a martial arts lifestyle for kids and adults in a supportive, and encouraging space.

Totally out of our comfort zone at first for sure... but it quickly has become our passion! Paul and Christa are excellent instructors, and the people who train, or have kids that train there, are super welcoming. The dojo has become our second home, 6 days a week, between the kids class, the women’s class, and the Saturday morning open mat. We highly recommend that anyone who is looking to get into a sport that trains the body and the mind, in an environment that feels like family, check out Okotoks Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. :)

We have been thinking of joining a Jiu-Jitsu club for many years- we couldn't wait until our son was old enough to get involved. My husband was always into watching martial arts and is a National competitor in powerlifting- he has known for a while that he's only got a couple more powerlifting competitions left in him... And now that he's been to some Adult Jiu-Jitsu classes, he's totally hooked and ready to make the switch sooner than later. In the weeks that my Son has started classes, he's been SUPER amazing at daycare and home- I couldn't believe the discipline he acquired in only a couple classes. It's a bonus that father and son are doing it together now as they practice their new skills together at home (SO CUTE). I am happy with the professionalism and community that I feel when I'm in the club. We will be life-er's and I can't wait for my daughter to join as well!

The professors are knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, and completely dedicated to their students. This is seen clearly in the welcoming community they have built with their students. It’s a safe, warm, and happy place where laughter is heard frequently. This is a school where both Prof. Paul and Prof. Christa show you through their words and ACTIONS that, “everybody moves differently, we have to find the way that your body moves best,” and “if that doesn’t work, what does?” They work with you to find what your capabilities are in the body you are in right now. This is a school where the people accept you exactly as you are and cheer you on, knowing that anyone that keeps showing up and putting in their best effort will succeed no matter how different your best is from everyone else’s. My son loves his littles class, and his professors! Paul and Christa provide guidance, courage and are such an amazing role model for kids to look up too as well! They have provided a strict but caring environment for the children to learn BJJ in. My son has ADHD and can be very impulsive and tests the limits as much as possible but he quickly learned to be respectful in class due to the structure in place and fell in love with the sport. He looks forward to class, even on the days that he is tired from a full school day. I am very thankful for the past 6 months, as with the current pandemic and restrictions, it seems to be rare to see a kid so happy about something. Thank you for nurturing his passion for BJJ. I highly recommend OBJJ.
