Absolutely worst office to ever deal with. One tiny error on my application and it gets delayed yet another 8 weeks is completely unacceptable. Considering people need their birth certificate to obtain a SIN which is pretty much required for anything student loan related there should be an expedited service. The male agent I dealt with was rude and showed no compassion for my situation and very little knowledge about the process. On top of that I was told to fax their office? It's 2018 why can't I email ? And when the fax was actually sent in I'm told it takes another week to receive?...what a joke.

submitted the application for my birth certificate in June, the same day I was sent an email that there was an issue with my application and I needed a guarantor. I got the paperwork signed and then sent it into their office in August since I was out of the country the entirety of July. Fast forward 2 weeks I still hadn’t received my birth certificate and I called the office, the lady I talked to was very nice but informed me that there is a very slow processing time and they were still looking at June applications, when I asked when I would receive my birth certificate I was told it could be roughly a 13 week wait. I was in the process of renewing my passport and was supposed to be going to the US during the holidays, but I now have had to cancel my trip since I won’t be there in time. Very slow service, I’ve been waiting since June and it’s now almost October, hopefully this time I don’t lose my birth certificate because I’m never going through this process again.

If I could give -10 stars I would !! Absolute worst place to get any service done, and that's coming from a government employee!!!!!! I was sent back my legal name change application THRICE even though I had all the documents requested. I sent them my entire documented life and it is still not enough for these people !!!! You will never feel more hopeless and frustrated in your life I guarantee you ! They need a letter explaining something, a sound person would say contact the person and ask them to mail it in, right? Not at NOServiceOntario, they have to mail everything back to you adding easily another month of delay. You do as requested and send them a 4-pages letter explaining everything, TRY AGAIN IT'S NOT ENOUGH !! You call them and ask to speak to someone from processing and they tell you it can't be done you have to fax them, what year is this???? 2001??? At this point im willing to drive to middle-of-nowhere, Ontario to do their job for them, but I'm sure if I do they'll just tell me how I'm missing something else. WHAT DO THEY WANT ? A KIDNEY ? A LUNG? I'LL GIVE IT TO THEM AT THIS POINT !!!!!! I will never feel happier in my life than the day this agency gets 100% defunded.

In general, terrible experience calling this place, similar to that of many of the 1 star reviews here. Every time you try calling, you get the "user busy" error. Once you are able to get through, it takes forever to talk to someone because they are constantly experiencing higher than normal call volumes. I have called 3 times just to get an address changed. In order to change your address you have to mail or fax in your new address. Well I don't know who uses fax machines anymore except pharmacies, and mailing something in is not ideal either. I had to send in proof of my new address twice because of "missing information" in my first letter. The person who I spoke to originally did not tell me all the details of what they required so I had to send it in again, which further delayed the process. All this aside, the first person I spoke with was very rude when answering. I understand that the system they have in place here doesn't seem to be good at all so there's probably a lot of stress when taking so many calls from people fed up with it, but at the end of the day the bottom line is bad customer service. I know the last person I spoke with said there's nothing she could do about the fact that you have to submit a fax or mailed confirmation which must be very frustrating for the employees as well. It would be much easier to send in a picture via email. Currently still waiting to receive our marriage certificate. It's been 6 months. Ridiculous. I expect more from a government office. At least it is finally in the "finalization" stage - which I guess means that they are making sure that all the information is correct. There is also still a Christmas music playlist during hold in February. Maybe they should update that. Though a few of the people I spoke with were fairly nice, the sum of all the parts of these experiences are still very sub par.

I applied online recently for a certified copy of a marriage registration and found the service convenient as I live in New Zealand but found that I needed to supply further information and wasn't sure specifically what that would entail. I put a phone call through to their office first thing in the morning (their time) and got through first time. The delay in speaking with someone was minimal and when they did speak she was polite, courteous and helpful and told me just what I needed to supply them with. I got onto the local lawyer's office and got them to verify publicly what I needed to state to them and got the lawyer's office to fax it through (it was disappointing that I couldn't have e-mailed through on their end but such is life) and it went through after several attempts. It's now two days since then and today I used the online service to see when it would get processed and discovered to my surprise that it had already been processed and was now being mailed out to my physical address in New Zealand. I say 'Well done those people!' Five stars well earned from me.

I applied for a birth certificate online for my newborn on the last day of the last month. It was Saturday followed by a long weekend. The office opened on the 3rd and the birth certificate was issued on the 4th! I received the certificate on the 6th! Unbelievable!!! Stunning! This was the fastest service I have received in my lifetime! Excellent!!

They dont even deserve 1 star rate. Municipal government sent the death registration to Government of Ontario, Office of the Registrar General, on 20th of December, 2021 by courrier. ORG didnt even start processing my application yet. After 13 wks waiting, they asked me to FAX the request for the urgency. LOL. No way to contact them but only fax them, LOL. Call Centre that they have is helpless and useless.
