Giving homeless/at risk aboriginals a safe place to go, get something to eat, and access important community services.

I went to go and inquire about the odawa youth high school program and the girl at the front office didnt know what I was talking about nor even wanted to direct me to anybody who could potentially help me.(Cuz she seemed to be on a break of some sort...EATING!) Also the women at the front office(the secretary) I believe her name was Shauna as I seen her name on her desk. I had asked her about getting my kids involved in the free Calypso water park this past summer and she didnt want to give me a spot seeing as she was getting most of her relatives in instead. To me it just seems this place likes to practice Nepotism at its finest. Pretty sad when new Indigenous urban residents of Ontario want to help feel supported and have a sense of community get pushed away for being from a different tribe! or not having family in those positions...Pretty Sad I tell You...Pretty Sad!

I witnessed the staff working close to Chapters, very dedicated and courteous, inspiring! I will definitely donate to the organization.

So I moved to Ontario from BC for a summer job and I was hoping to connect with other indigenous residents here so I figured I would try this friendship centre. The website made the programs sound good but it was not what I expected. First of all it was located in an abondoned high school which was super creepy and it has poor signage. And second of all the girl in the main office was not helpful at all nor friendly. Did not feel welcomed at all. Definitely will not be returning to this facility or will not attempt to even try and access their programs. Hard pass.
