About Oakwood Cafe

The ‘Boss’

With a passion for food, crazy ideas and a method that is sometimes a bit outside the box that causes many a raised eyebrow from our team, I was lucky enough to take over the Oakwood in 2016 and have been on a vertical learning curve ever since.

With a super supportive family and a love of feeding people, we sat down and thought about what we like to eat. The answer was simple and recipes were tweaked, eyes were rolled and we changed the menu to reflect food that evokes memories from childhood and my years of living in the UK.

We have stripped back the Oakwood style to what I think is are its strengths, which is a local family restaurant with the ability to offer home made dishes at a reasonable price. Breakfast all day because who doesn’t like breakfast? Add in some delish burgers and sandwiches and you have all the foods that give you comfort.

We know we’ve lost some of your favourites along the way and we continue to make changes when we get itchy feet and we hope you’ll like what you find. If you have a yearning for something you don’t see on the menu, just ask and if we can whip up one of our old classics for you we’d be only too happy to do so.

I've been raving about this place since I first visited it 7 years ago, but I recently met up with some friends for Sunday brunch here and I was reminded of just how good their food was. I got the posh beans on toast and it was so tasty and filling! Their bottomless coffee was great too. All of the servers were very friendly. It was a little slow, but it was a busy Sunday and we had a wonderful two hours catching up.

I’ve been to the Oakwood quite a few times and its a great casual spot for anytime breakfast or brunch. Servers are good and friendly. I had the cauliflower pakora burger last time - sounds odd but it was a pretty delicious vegetarian option - and the borsht. Their portions are very generous. My only comment about the lunch menu is it would be a nice option to get a great big bowl of that yummy borscht on its own (or maybe with a slice of toast) without the a big sandwich on the side - for a lighter option.

We came back here for dinner after not coming for many years. The food was very good and we looooved their attentiveness to gluten free options. Service was amazing. We will be coming more often again!

Always excellent, always affordable, and always packed with local goodness! Whether it's the local beers or the local hot sauces you have with your meal you'll always have a lovely time at the Oakwood Cafe. (And they have Old Speckled Hen, which isn't local, but is one of my favourites)

Picked up their Crown and Coke burger for Burger week along with a side of borscht. The soup was great as always, and the burger was probably one of the beefiest burgers I’ve ever had, with what I believe was both a beef patty and a slice of super tender roast beef. Top notch.

We met a friend here for breakfast. Our friend had the bacon and peach pancakes which sounds different but he said it was delicious. Salty and sweet together. I had the tortilla with scrambled eggs, avocado and salsa. It also comes with a side of potatoes. This was so good! Even though the sever was busy, she kept up with the coffee and asked if we needed any thing further. Prices are good. Portions are generous. We didn’t need a reservation as we were there very early but as time progressed the restaurant filled up and people were waiting for a table.

Love this little diner. The food is pretty good and large portions. I've always had super friendly and helpful wait staff. I typically dine in for breakfast and lunch. They do have a feezer where you can purchase frozen meals for home, as well as some hot sauce. It has somewhat of a British flair to the menu which is unique

Amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere. Had the brisket beef dip with fries and pancakes. The brisket was unbelievable and the au jus was delicious. Fries were cooked perfectly and didn’t have that gross starchy taste. Pancakes were tasty too and very filling. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend this place for a date for its quiet atmosphere
