About Nutri-Lawn of Winnipeg

Overseeding

Everyone wants a thick and healthy lawn. Overseeding is the practice of adding new grass seed into a lawn.  Overseeding introduces new endophyte-enhanced grass species that require less water, less fertilizer, resist insects, disease pressures, and discourage weed infestations.

Overseeding is recommended annually for every lawn, even the best conditioned.

For lawns that are thin, weak, and have minor areas of concern, overseeding works wonders. New grass seed assists in thickening up these areas before they continue to worsen and problems arise, and continually adding new grass seed replaces older, tired grass to keep it healthy and robust.

Spring and Fall are usually the best times to plant grass seed, since soil and air temperatures are warm and natural rainfall is common. These beneficial growing conditions help ensure optimal seed germination and make establishment much more successful.

The most important rule to follow when establishing new grass seed is this: “if the seed dries, it dies.” Water is essential, and without it the seed cannot germinate. Maintaining a light frequent watering schedule multiple times a day until the grass fully establishes is vital to ensure the seed stays moist and doesn’t dry out.

Please be very careful dealing with this company. I arranged a spring aeration for a specific date with nutri-lawn because of a soil delivery. Nutri-lawn called left a message saying they were coming the same day a the soil delivery. I called and left another message saying no that won't work. The company called with a re ording message at the beginning of September to tell us they were coming to aerate. The message invited that if this was inconvenient leave a message which I did. In fact I said please don't come till I call back for service. On sept 22 a young man was putting a bill in my mailbox for aeration and had an aeration machine running on the lawn ready to go. It was my decision at that point to let him continue which I did. By the way the service is not worth the $66. I would have had the same effect using a pitchfork on the lawn a ijfoot apart. Don't bother it's useless. However looking at the bill in small print there is an ongoing service without cancelation by phone which I already knew didn't stop them from coming. Sept 26 I called the company and spoke to Dana the apparent owner. When I tried explaining the situation as I've written it above he said he reviews all the recorded messages and wouldn't come out for a cancelled service. So I asked if he was calling me a liar, he then hung up on me. I called back and asked just how I cancell his follow up service if he's insulting and hangs up on customers. He informed me he doesn't have time for idiots like me. I then told him that his company was not to come near my property and he told me that for $66 he wasn't going to worry about it. The man was rude arrogant and had no interest in customer service. Customer rip off is the company's policy and total lack of respect of ethics or customer service.

Below are what my lawn looks like after two years of service from this company. They also were responsible for filling my 8 smaller hostas and one large one. Was informed that they would provide replacements if they did not return the following year - contacted them four times in three weeks to speak about the issue and neither brother has taken the time to return my call or to address my concerns. I would never recommend this company for lawn work as it was nothing but an issue. The only thing that was good was they did eliminate the dandy lions from my lawn.

Love the fact that the service is timely. Love that the product is safe for me and my dogs (and the environment) yet it works wonderfully. Great results from the treatments encourages me to do my part to keep the lawn watered, trimmed at the right height and done regularly. Great service … great product.

We've been customers for 3 or 4 years. Our yard is L- shaped. Every year we'd have to repeatedly request that they please treat the entire lawn and every year they'd continue to largely disregard a sizable portion of the property. We'd pay for a season's treatment in advance and receive an invoice statement per treatment, which didn't make sense to us, given that the year had already been paid. The invoice listing everything they did to just part of the yard became a periodic annoyance in its reminding of everything they didn't do to the entire yard. I've included a photo with this review of the area they would miss, all the way out to the road. Note that the property to the right is clear of weeds. They hired a different company. Eventually we switched companies and didn't renew our annual service package... or so we thought... because a few days ago there was a sign on our yard declaring they had treated it, without any invitation from us. The service rep told us it's their policy to automatically renew annual service packages despite the absence of any contract and we'd have to pay. What a remarkable business model! The last time I encountered this, it was children taking tourists' photos in Mexico and then requesting payment. As an aside, the new company contacted us to advise us they'd seen the Nutri-lawn sign on our yard and mentioned they've heard numerous complaints about this practice. What I wish Nutri-lawn understood is that I don't want a discount on poor work, I just want the work done right in the first place. Half a yard of weeds isn't better than a whole yard of weeds when you hire a weed control service. I would happily do it myself if I had access to the chemicals. I rate them 1 star because the areas they treated have far fewer dandelions than the areas they repeatedly neglected, but their workmanship and business practices are lousy.
